Time management in the college is one of the most important skills taught to us, says Jai

To get admission into VMSIIHE I had to go through an entrance test and a one-to-one interview with the director of the college. I had to answer all the questions given in the entrance test and had to also write an essay about any choice of the topic given to us in the entrance test. The entrance test was quite tough and really tested my iq and intellectual level.

After my Class 10, I had pretty much the freedom of any of the three major fields that is Science, Arts and Commerce. Off course as science intrigued me so I went for it. I did have issues with science field yet completed the Class 12 with grace. I also had the freedom to choose my college field and that’s when I realized Engineering and Medical Fields for now look pretty saturated in India and have no jobs left within (No Offense). Hence, I selected my most favourite field which is the hospitality which is all about how your present yourself and treat others and off course food. It’s a field where there is a job for in every corner of the world with great heights to be achieved. I always thought about having my own business hence when the college (VMSIIHE) had come to my higher secondary school for a presentation I was immediately interested and knew where to be.

The interview was questions based on yourself.

Time management in the college is one of the most important skills taught to us a as hospitality professional. I was a hosteller at the college and morning 7 AM we had the breakfast and classes used to start from 8 AM. Classes continued till 5 pm and we had activity hour till 6:30 PM and then 7:30 PM was the dinner time. Later at 8:30 PM we had a study hour and back to sleep by 10:30 PM.

I would really love to attend the Food and Beverages Operations Subject as it was my major in the field. The theory and specially the practical were very fun and interactive. Also, bar management was a fun subject as we could try and make our own cocktails and mocktails. Other than that, accounts and front office was also one of my favorite subjects for the depth and interactive skills it taught.

I was a part of many extracurricular activities as we are a hospitality college, we host a lot of events and food stalls, marketing stall, expos and stuff. in which every student has to participate also other extracurricular activities included sports day, talks, alumni talk, and various competitions. I have participated in all as a part of the team and individually.

If given a chance having an entrepreneurship subject as a part of curriculum would be really great as it helps build confidence and knowledge of students who want to setup their own startup businesses.

The college experience has changed me majorly in a lot of things. First of all, it makes you a better human being than you were when you joined the college. You come out as a professional who can take on any challenges the industry can put on you. I really improved my overall personality and how to present myself as that’s on of the most important skill in hospitality. I improved my lingual skills, team skills, management skills and leadership skills. It made me a confident man.

I see a lot of opportunities for myself in business as I am already doing two with the backbone set by my college.

I plan on growing my business and company
