Workshops & Projects in Brainware University

There are two types of workshops conducted at Brainware University intra-departmental and inter-departmental. 

In today's competitive business environment, relevant job skills and field insights are as important as conventional course degrees. From corporates to small firms, every entity seeks these qualities in their employees to provide for the organisational goals in the best possible way. To fill those gaps that a general course of academics cannot fill, workshops and projects come into play. Brainware University puts great emphasis on the overall development of its students; therefore, it provides opportunities for skill and knowledge enhancement by conducting regular workshops and projects in various disciplines.

Workshops at Brainware University

Workshops at Brainware University are conducted and organised by various departments. These workshops vary from intra-departmental to inter-departmental. 

Inter-Departmental Workshops

Webinars on topics like entrepreneurship, business, start-ups etc. are conducted on an inter-departmental level. Some of the conducted webinars are as follows:

1. Webinar on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation as A Career Opportunity’ organised by Department of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council (IIC). Speaker of the event: Dr Biswarup Ghosh, PhD, Co-Founder, Neucrad Health Hub India LLP and Neucrad Agri Farm Health Hub.
2. Workshop on ‘Innovation – Passion or Profession’ organised by The School of Management and Commerce in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council (IIC). Speaker of the event: Aniruddha Kaushal, Chief Transformations Officer, Kaushal Pharmaceuticals.
3. FOSTAC Basic Training Session organised by Campus to Corporate Department. Speaker of the session: Dr Deborshi Dey (NLRP-FOSTAC/ FSSAI and CEO of Smart Management Consultancy)

Intra-Departmental Workshops

Conferences, seminars, workshops and webinars on department-specific genres are regularly organised to update students with developments and trends in respective disciplines. Some of them are:

1. Department of Biotechnology

National Biotechnology Conference on ‘Biotechnology and One Health’. Speakers of the event: Prof. Sib Sankar Roy, CSIR-IICB, Kolkata & Prof. (Dr) Samir Ranjan Sikdar, Bose Institute, Kolkata.

2. Department of Computational Sciences

Workshop on ‘Deep insight into new tech trends with AI, Game Dev and Intel One API’. Speakers of the event: Kazi Haque (Intel Software Innovator) & Abhishek Nandy (Intel Black Belt Developer).

3. Department of English

Webinar on ‘Emerging trends in Literary Studies – Digital Humanities.' Speaker of the event: Dr Koel Mitra, Assistant Professor of English, The Neotia University.

4. Department of Law

Seminar on ‘Legal Aid Services for Poor and Vulnerable Groups.' Speakers of the event: Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly, Former Judge of the Supreme Court and Former Chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission; Advocate Reshmi Ria Sinha, Advocate on Record (AOR).

5. Department of Computer Science and Engineering

A one-day workshop on ‘Practical Aspects of Digital Electronics.' Speaker of the event: Mr Sitikantha Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BWU.

An online event on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Real World.' Organised in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council (IIC). Speaker of the event: Dr Shibani Mohapatra, Consulting Partner, Higher Education Units, TCS ION.

Projects at Brainware University

Projects are an essential part of any course as it enriches the practical capabilities of students in a very fruitful manner. Brainware University assigns a number of projects to students of different disciplines on a frequent basis. This makes them industry ready and up-to-date with the current market and global requirements. Some of the projects are:

1. An ‘Industrial Visit’ to the Indian School of Anti-Hacking (ISOAH) at Salt Lake for the students of BSc specialising in Advanced Networking and Cyber Security.
2. A one-day ‘Industrial Visit’ to 33/11 kV substation under Barasat Division WBSEDCL (West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) for the students of Electrical Engineering.
3. Project on ‘Field Reporting’ in Brainware University Campus by the students of Multimedia & Journalism.

It is clear that Brainware University not only acknowledges the theory papers and conventional studies but also focuses on the real-time skill and knowledge enhancement events.
