B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering - Batch of 2027

The thing near to my heart : NITK.
Placements: The percentage of students who got placed in metallurgical and materials branch in the year 2022 was around 74%. The highest package was 28 LPA. The median salary for the same was 12 LPA. There is very less chances in metallurgy branch to get internships but still here 60% of students got internships?
Infrastructure: The metallurgy branch is the most lagging branch of NITK. There is a small academic block because there is very less strength of students in the department. The girls hostels are not so old. They have basic facilities like, RO water, laundry, internet connection etc. There is separate messes for veg and non-veg food.
Faculty: Since I said there is very less strength of students in metallurgy branch. The no. Of faculty members is also very less in the department. Most of the students rtry to get placements in software companies. And some of them prepare for GATE Exam as well. The course curriculum is good enough for the core jobs.

It is an excellent college.
Placements: Around 94% of students got placed in our college. The average salary package offered is around 10 LPA - 11 LPA. Many students got placed in banks as analysts. Some students got software roles. Many students got placed in core companies. Placements are above average in our college.
Infrastructure: First-year students are provided with three sharing rooms. All bathrooms are in good condition. Wi-Fi and LAN facilities are provided in the hostel rooms. The mess provides good food. It provides a variety of food items.
Faculty: All teachers are Ph.D. holders. They teach well. The curriculum is the same for first-year students. Exams are moderate. The maths subject is very difficult. Students fail in the math exam.
Other: I chose this course because the syllabus is not hectic and would get a lot of free time. Our course provides good placements. Every year, our college conducts one technical fest and one cultural fest. Our college organises many events like Onam, music programs, etc. The campus crowd is very good. All students are toppers. They are involved in a lot of activities other than studies.

Review of NITK Surathkal - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: Around 28 students out of 54 got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is 24 LPA. The average salary package offered is 12.8 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 7.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Accenture and 09 solutions. Many software-related roles are offered to students.
Infrastructure: Our department has all facilities. Our labs have all equipment and are well-stocked. Hostels are very old but are good for staying.
Faculty: Our faculty members are top-notch. They have master's degrees in their fields. They know about all subjects and are approachable. The course curriculum is very practical and makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are easy. Students can score well if they study the night before exams.
Other: I opted for this college because of its excellent location.

Best NIT with rich culture and excellent opportunities.
Placements: Overall placement is 90+ percent and in my branch too it varies between 80-90 per year. The highest is above 50 and the lowest is around 6 LPA per annum. Internship percentage is less varying from 10 to 20 percent in my branch and in computer Science related branches it's around 60-70.
Infrastructure: Some buildings are yet be constructed again, the meta department has an old building but it's renovated again and again. Good Wi-Fi in departments and many number of labs with good equipments. Some hostels are old some are new it depends on your B.Tech year but more new hostel construction is going on. Mess food is okayish.
Faculty: Yes all the professors of the department are Ph.D. with IITs or foreign universities with excellent knowledge. Course curriculum I'd relevant and it is not much hectic you will get plenty of time to explore other fields. Semester exams are medium to difficult. Everyone passes but attendance must not be very low.

Placements are very good for top branches.
Placements: Metallurgy branch has a placement of approximately 70 percent. The average package for our batch is around 7lpa. Internships in core is very less but in IT sector students get it. Most of us are mainly focused on Tech jobs. Most of the tech giants come to our college and so that is the best think I like about our college.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of Metallurgy department is the worst when compared to other branches. Other top branches like CSE, IT, ECE, etc. Have a very good infrastructure. The faculty members are good and help the students with any doubts related to subjects or even other random stuff.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and they are very nice and humble. Students can ask doubts related to course or on various other things, they are always ready to help. The course and curriculum is mostly similar to IITs and it is relevant. Semester exams are not very difficult if you start studying before a week of mid or end seems.
Other: I chose this course, i.e. Metallurgy. The first reason is ranking and brand of NITK and second and obvious reason is that I could get this only as my rank was not enough to get into top branches. One thing I like is that our course is not too difficult and hectic, so side by side you could focus on coding too. One thing I wish could improve is our metallurgy department.

Our college is superb because of 98% placements every year.
Placements: About 90-95% of the students in our group got placements. Many students get placed in CSE, so most of the students from the metallurgy course learn to code and get placed in software companies. We get internships from the starting of the 3rd year, and in our branch, only some students get selected compared to CSE or IT. Reliance Steel or mining companies hire most of the students from our branch. Most of the students prefer higher studies in metallurgy for good scope.
Infrastructure: Facilities are amazing in NITK. There are labs for experimental procedures and about 2-3 libraries with all varieties of needed books. Wi-Fi is very good on our campus, and we get about 10 GB daily to our use and even more some days. The hostel food is the best thing, and we can find cafes, drinks, etc., on the campus. Medical facilities are very good, and there are special doctors available 24x7 with an ambulance if in an emergency.
Faculty: Lecturers teach as much they can, but for placements, we need to prepare on our own by taking guidance from lecturers and seniors. The metallurgy course provides great effort in making us industry closure. We have every machine facility to build our career in the way we need.
Other: I have chosen this course in this college because it is at the top 2 in overall NIT. I suggest taking this course if you want to crack UPSC, if you are interested in coding and if you won't get CSE or IT. So, you can get high time to prepare yourself. We have different types of fests every week or next. An event named Incident is the top 2 event in India which is celebrated in our college. If you are from ST or SC category, you can get NSP scholarships every year for about Rs. 30,000 to 40,000 and even more.

Review of National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal.
Placements: Almost 100% of students get placement from the CSE course. In the metallurgy course, there are 90% of placements, but the salary package offered is less when compared to CSE. If we are interested in coding, then you can learn on your own and get placed in the coding company. Many metallurgy students get placed in coding companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is excellent. It has every facility that we need to improve ourselves. There are central libraries where we can find any book to develop ourselves. The speed of the Wi-Fi facility is awesome. Classrooms are good to study, and it has a GD lab facility.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are experienced and well-trained. They can teach you in any field and guide you in any field of your own choice. Exams are quite difficult, but if we study, then they are easy for us. The course is regarding the industry and all things. So you can get the basic knowledge of the industry.
Other: I have chosen this college because of its NIRF rank, placements, and especially the beauty of the college beach. There are different events, and especially it organises Asia's top 2 events. So we can relax along with studying. There is an NSP scholarship for students who belong to SC and ST students. The campus surroundings are cool and green. We can observe snakes too there. The beautiful beach is just amazing on campus.

It is a great college to consider with good faculty members and extracurricular activities.
Placements: If you want to check the placements percentage, then you can definitely check on NITKs official website. Every information you desire, regarding packages offered and companies visited, can be gathered from there. As far as my branch is concerned, you need to have a good technical knowledge of your engineering subject as well as a high GPA. You can expect a salary package that ranges from 7-8 LPA in the core. The branch is more about theories along with basic mathematics. If you want to prepare for government jobs, then you can go with it. If you want to excel in your branch, then you can consider GATE too, because of the less competition.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good. The college has recently constructed a new hostel building, and the old ones are good too. It built a new gym and has a five-floor sports complex. There is an international-level length swimming pool. We have coaches for a gym, sports and swimming as well. I suggest you just beware of the snakes. They are very common though easy to deal with. Just give them their way, and they would mind their own business.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are cool and supportive. If you just attend college regularly and listen to what they say in class, then you can easily score above 80% in academics. Subjects are not a burden at all. You do not have to read Physics and Chemistry together. All the subjects are divided into two cycles, one for each semester. If you manage to score above 40% in each subject, then you can pass the semester.
Other: I have chosen this course because I gave preference to the college. I also did a lot of research on things I can pursue after graduating from MME at NITK. I can do government jobs and learn to code. Companies prepare for GATE or learn for any other competitive examination like CAT. Though very few people take MME throughout India, and I do not regret my decision to pursue this course. The college is excellent. Our college organises a lot of fests and events where we can get together with other branch students and create a bond with them. NITK has a beach of its own, so you can enjoy sitting there also.

NIT do not have lateral entry system. Diploma is considered equivalent to class 12th in NIT, so you have to appear in JEE Mains to get admission in NIT. If you score good rank, then you will get admission there.

Hello Rajesh, Admissions in NIT's are based on rank of JEE Mains. If you score well in JEE Mains then you have a chance of getting admission in your desired college and branch. Else you can think of getting admission via lateral mode in college within your state.
