BUMAT 2020 Test Taking Tips, Do's & Don'ts

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune is all set to conduct the BUMAT 2020 exam, which is scheduled to commence from August 18. In a first, the BUMAT exam will be conducted in the online mode and in a remote proctored method. Registered candidates need not visit the BUMAT test centre, but take the test from their homes or any location of their convenience. The decision has been taken by the university as a response to the current pandemic scenario. While some candidates may be familiar with the Internet-Based Test (IBT), for some, this would be the first time experience. To help the BUMAT 2020 candidates take the test in a hassle-free manner, the university has laid down some guidelines. This article brings the tips to take the test along with the Dos and Don's.

System Requirements to Take BUMAT 2020

The test-takers have to ensure that they fulfil the following system requirements.

  • Fully functional desktop or laptop with Windows 8 or Windows 10 operating system

  • Internet connection of 2 MBPS or more

  • Should use Google Chrome Version 80 or above with cookies and pop-ups enabled

  • Web camera of minimum 1.3 MP

  • A properly functional and good quality microphone

  • RAM & Processor: 4 GB+ RAM, i3 5th Generation 2.2 GHz or equivalent/higher

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)

Steps Before Starting the Test

Candidates have to follow the steps given below before starting the test:

  • Log in to the system at least 45 minutes prior to the test schedule

  • Click a real-time self-photograph and that of the government-issued photo identity card and wait for the proctor to approve both

  • Candidates will be able to start the test after the proctor’s approval

Candidates’ activities will be remotely monitored through webcam and microphone. Computer screen, browser, keyboard and mouse will be kept under observation. The proctors can communicate with the candidates using the on-screen chatbox. In case they observe or suspect any unfair means, the candidates will receive a warning and their test can be cancelled as well.

Dos While Taking BUMAT 2020

  • The desk and chair should be placed against a plain background and there should be adequate lighting so that they are visible to the proctors

  • Candidates must be dressed in a decent attire

  • In case of any technical query or difficulty, they can speak to the helpdesk after seeking permission from the proctors

  • Candidates have to place the camera in such a way so that their face is placed in the middle of the screen and is visible to the proctor throughout the test

  • Candidates are allowed to use battery-operated calculator for simple calculations. However, they must ensure that they do not use scientific calculators

  • Test-takers should ensure that they have attempted all the questions accurately before submitting the final test

  • Candidates must keep the laptop completely charged during the test and in case of using a desktop, they should ensure that it is connected to an UPS.

Don’ts While Taking BUMAT 2020

  • The test-takers should not take the test from a public place or a noisy background

  • Candidates should not be taking the test sitting in an informal posture on a couch or a bed

  • There should not be any other person present at the test-taking zone

  • Candidates should not be talking to else apart from the proctor during the test

  • Candidates should not have any personal belonging while taking BUMAT, such as mobile phones, earphones, scientific calculator, books, stationery items, etc.

  • Test-takers should not be leaving the exam area while the test is in progress

  • Test-takers must not be switching off the web camera or the microphone during the test

  • Candidates should not navigate to any other window during BUMAT

  • They should not log out or switch off the computer system during the test timing

FAQs Regarding BUMAT 2020 Test-Taking Procedure

Q: Can I take the test from my mobile phone or tablet?

A: No, candidates have to take the test only on a desktop or a laptop.

Q: I do not have a computer. Can I take the test from a cyber cafe?

A: No, candidates are not allowed to take BUMAT from a cybercafe or any other public place. In case, a candidate does not have a computer system, s/he can arrange for one with the necessary guidelines, or visit the home of a friend or acquaintance to take the test.

Q: How will I get to know the schedule of the test?

A: Candidates will receive the information of the schedule in the form the an admit card on their registered email address and mobile number as SMS.

Q: Is it possible or cancel or reschedule the BUMAT 2020?

A: No, it is not possible to cancel or reschedule the test. Candidates must appear on the said date and time if they want to take the test and get admission in the Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be) University or other BUMAT accepting colleges.

Q: Is there any practice test available for getting accustomed to the internet-based remote proctored BUMAT?

A: Yes, candidates can take mock tests which are provided by the university in order to get the test-taking experience prior to attempting the actual test.

Q: What if there are some technical glitches during the test?

A: In case candidates experience technical errors during the test, they can contact the BUMAT Help desk after taking permission from the proctor.

Q: Is it mandatory to keep the web camera and microphone switched on throughout the test?

A: Yes, it is mandatory to keep both the microphone as well as the web camera on throughout the duration of BUMAT.

Q: What if I am unable to submit the test on time?

A: The test will automatically be submitted after 2.5 hours. Hence, candidates must ensure that they complete the test before time and also revise at least once before submitting the final test.

Q: For how many slots will the BUMAT 2020 exam be conducted?

A: The BUMAT 2020 will be conducted in three slots each day, over a window of three days, from August 18 to August 20.

Q: What if I accidentally shut down my system or it gets hanged or switches off on its own?

A: In such a scenario. Candidates have to restart the system immediately and contact the proctor or the help-desk to request for a new password. The test will resume from the point where it was last closed.

Q: When is the BUMAT 2020 result scheduled to be declared?

A: The BUMAT 2020 result will be declared on August 24, 2020.
