Placements: If you are in the B.A. programme, don’t expect companies to line up for you. Most recruiters look for specialized skills or commerce backgrounds. However, the Internship Fair is a lifesaver. I managed to land a content writing internship with a Rs.10,000 stipend.
Infrastructure: The evening tag brings a unique infrastructure challenge, overcrowding. Since evening classes now often start early, you share the canteen and corridors with the morning crowd, which can make the otherwise spacious campus feel very small. There is no hostel, so you have to live in a PG if you are not from Delhi.
Faculty: The faculty at Dyal Singh Evening College is honestly the institution’s hidden pulse. Unlike the robotic lecturing you might expect, the professors, especially in the Political Science and Commerce departments, bring a rare blend of high-level academia, as most are Ph.D. holders from DU itself, and are genuinely helpful.
Other: While the administration can occasionally be a bit of a maze, the teaching staff acts as a compass. They don’t just teach from a textbook, they actually use real-world examples and keep the atmosphere light enough that you sometimes actually want to attend that 4 PM lecture. If you are willing to put in the effort, these mentors provide good guidance.
