The college is good enough and you can choose this college, but there can be some problems.

Placements: All types of roles are offered across consultancy, core, tech, and finance. Most of the roles are provided for core and consultancy sectors, and all Computer Science and IT engineering students get very good placements. Especially for Electrical Engineering, everything is open, including consultancy, core electrical roles, and finance.

Infrastructure: Facilities in the hostel are good enough for living, but the food quality is average. The food quality is good for non-vegetarian options, but for vegetarians, there is less variety, and the overall value for money regarding food is average. The hostel facilities are good, so the rooms are properly ventilated and furnished with good, new furniture, especially in some of the newer hostels.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified. Most of the teachers are from Bengal, so there can be a language barrier with professors, but all professors speak in English. Therefore, if your English is good, you can survive very well. The professors are highly qualified, some are even as qualified as IIT professors, as this college is very old.

Other: The Rebecca festival is very awesome and enjoyable.

Very old heritage college, has lakhs of alumni, very supportive staff and professors.

Placements: I am from the mechanical department. For it, the placement percentage of the 2026 batch is 80 percent, and the highest is quite low at 13.7 LPA, with the median at 8 LPA. Top recruiters are Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, etc. Some consultancy companies also allow students to sit in their cell and give 11 to 13.7 LPA. For core companies, the highest is 12 LPA. There is 100 pecent internship for the mechanical batch, as per our HOD, in very well-known companies like Tata Motors, Aditya Motors, Tata Steel, etc. Top roles are just core roles.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available everywhere in classes, the library, or hostels. Infra still lacks, as there is no proper auditorium and sports complex, but the management says from this year the work of making these two has started. Labs are very good, and professors are also very supportive. Food is decent here, 4 canteens are there for refreshment. Very active clubs and sports clubs exist for every game. The hostel has a mess, bathrooms, washing machines, Wi-Fi, and a bed/table.

Faculty: Teachers are very qualified; except for the 1st year professors, others are very supportive and encouraging. The curriculum is very relevant and makes students industry-ready, as for mechanical core, it is an about 100 or more years old college. Semester exams are like, study 1 week before the exam and score 7 or more GPA. The pass percentage is quite impressive, as only 2–3 students fail.

A simple review of IIEST Shibpur (B.E college).

Placements: In my course in civil engineering, 65 percent of students got placed. The highest package is 20 LPA from BPCL, and the lowest is 3.6 LPA from TCS. The top recruiting companies are PwC, Cem India, Techno, ICICI Bank, and BPCL. Top roles offered are Graduate Engineer Trainee and management trainees.

Infrastructure: In my department, there are good facilities. The classrooms and labs are also good with new equipment, but some advanced equipment is not there. Wi-Fi is very good you will get a good 24/7 AC library here. In classrooms, you will not find AC, but you will not feel heat there.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful here, but first you have to show that you have potential. Teaching quality is also good. Some professors have great knowledge, but you will understand what they are teaching. They are highly qualified. They have done their PhDs from foreign universities and many from the IITs. The course curriculum is newly advanced. New topics are also taught, like AI in civil engineering, and ML is also taught in the department. It is hard in the first and second years. The pass percentage is 70 percent after the 2nd year, the subjects and exams become easy.

Other: I chose this course because in this course of civil engineering there is a good opportunity for government jobs, and the best thing about this course is it is very practical. You can feel like boarding. I wish we could advance it by teaching good software in the classroom using extra classes, and add some projects on this. Our fest, Rebecca, is the best cultural fest in Kolkata, and Instruo is the technical fest. Many students from other colleges come to participate in the fest. There is good connectivity, you will find a taxi from Howrah starting to college directly and a bus.

Good regarding placements and teaching quality, only for study purpose but not for the fest.

Placements: 70% of students got placed. The highest package is 65 LPA, the lowest is 7 LPA, and the average is 16 LPA. Wipro, Nvidia, and many local companies. 80% of students got their internship; if interested, they can go to Germany for companies like BMW, Volvo, Ferrari, etc.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very stable, and labs and lab teachers are very good, and classrooms are also good. I love the library atmosphere. Quality of facilities in the hostel is good, but the old infrastructure and the washing machine are available, and a water purifier, medical facilities are also good. Sports are also good.

Faculty: Good standard of faculty and helpful teachers, who are qualified and have also studied in IITs and NITs. The good standard teaching quality was amazing. I love the teaching. The course curriculum is relevant to the academic standard and makes students industry-ready. Exams are very difficult, and the pass percentage is 40%.

Other: I love mechanical, and the institute has great machines for labs. I wish the tenure of labs to be more because time is insufficient. Events and festivities will be good, and the great crowd will be more, connectivity is more, and people from every state are present on the campus. But campus surroundings are not good, with many small roads and not enough transport from the railway station to the college. Good scholarship schemes are present in the college, and more extracurricular activities like Robo Darshan and others.

It has strong academics in Physics with a good and peaceful research environment.

Placements: 41 students are placed in my course. In M.Sc. Physics is not placement-based, as it is research-based, so most students give exams like NET, JEST, and GATE. A small number of students get jobs in data analysis and teaching roles through their own efforts. About 60% of students got internships at many institutes.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the Physics department is very good. There are all labs with well-equipped instruments. Wi-Fi is also available. The library remains open for 24 hours. The hostel facility is good. The environment is perfect. The mess food is not bad and adjustable. Medical facilities are very good. There are playgrounds for sports and games. So overall it is perfect.

Faculty: Professors are very helpful and guide us in exams like CSIR, NET, GATE, and JEST. They are heavily qualified in their research areas. The M.Sc. in Physics course is mainly research-oriented, so it is for research areas more than an industrial job. Semester exams are moderately difficult and require regular study and conceptual understanding.

Good faculty, decent placements, strong alumni network, and average infrastructure.

Placements: About 65 percent placement in the year 2025. The highest package is 23 LPA and the average package offered is 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies like BPCL, ICICI, PWC, LNT, ITD Cementation, Mageba Bridge, Tata, etc. About 70 percent of enrolled placement students got placed. Top roles offered are associate, etc.

Infrastructure: The college has a pretty good hostel now which is also newly renovated. Wi-Fi is available 24/7 on campus as well as in the hostel. Library facilities are also very nice (fully AC) giving a 24/7 option for students to study. Right now the library is also expanding to 1 more floor making it a 3-floor library for more capacity.

Faculty: Teachers are qualified but teaching quality varies across subjects. Curriculum covers basics but is slightly outdated and not fully industry-oriented. Students need extra effort like internships and self-study to be industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate and most students pass with regular preparation.

Other: I chose this course due to my interest in the core field and its career opportunities. The best part is strong fundamentals, supportive faculty, and a good alumni network that helps with guidance and opportunities. The curriculum needs more industry exposure and practical learning. Campus life is decent with good connectivity and average extracurricular activities.
