MBA at IIM Ranchi is a two-year Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management, leading to an MBA degree. It is a fully residential programme offered in full time mode. The programme is aimed at imparting theoretical and practical knowledge in different management areas. Admissions to IIM Ranchi MBA courses are done through CAT. Prospective students undergo the Common Admission Test (CAT), followed by a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview. IIM Ranchi offers two-year MBA programmes. It offers core MBA, MBA-HR, and MBA-BA courses. Admission to the PG level course is based on merit in the CAT exam. CAT Institute of Management Ranchi accepts CAT scores, followed by the Personal Interview round for admission to the MBA course. As per the IIM CAP criteria, the expected qualifying CAT cut off for the batch of 2023-25 is 93 percentile for the General category students. For admission to MBA (or PGP) 2024 batch at IIM Ranchi, the CAT test was conducted on November 26, 2023. Aspirants of IIM Ranchi are required to appear for the exam in Computer Based Testing mode at the allotted test centres. CAT exam 2023 will be held in three slots:
Morning slot: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Afternoon slot: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM
Evening slot: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Earlier, the CAT exam used to be of 180 minutes with 100 questions but in 2020, both exam duration and number of questions were reduced due to COVID-19 pandemic. Now, starting CAT 2022, the total number of questions stands at 66 as part of CAT pattern.
The IIM Ranchi MBA Cutoff 2023 was 92 percentile for the General Category, with sectional cutoffs of 70 percentile each.

Please note that the cutoffs mentioned above are the qualifying cut-offs released by IIM Ranchi.
Aspirants can join the IIM Ranchi IPM course after class 12. It is full time 5-year integrated course comprising Undergraduate and postgraduate management programmes (BBA-MBA). At the completion of IPM students will be awarded an MBA degree.
- For admission at IIM Ranchi in IPM, candidates are required to appear for the IPMAT examination followed by PI round which will be conducted virtually by IIM Ranchi.
- The total fees for the first three years of the programme will be around INR 16 lakh.The fees for the next two years will be equal to the MBA programme fees set for that year.
- The programme is designed to provide a multidisciplinary foundation borrowing from Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, and Sciences. The programme’s cross-disciplinary business core builds on such a foundation. It comprehensively covers management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, information systems, data science, and strategic management.
The difficulty level of IPMAT depends on how much preaparation a candidate has done. Candidate's IPMAT preparation strategy should be systematic and cover complete IPMAT syllabus. IPMAT is a national-level entrance exam which is conducted by the prestigious IIM Indore for admission to the five-year IPM course offered IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, etc. Candidates planning to appear for IPMAT must know that good IPMAT preparation can help them go a long way. Candidates from all streams can appear for the IPMAT exam and those with strong mathematical skills can easily crack IPMAT.
