To apply for the five-year BS-MS Dual Degree programme at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, candidates need to have passed Class 12 in any stream from a recognised board with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) along with JEE Advanced/ IISER Aptitude Test scores. The Round 1 closing rank for the BS-MS course stood at 403 for the General All India category student. So, considering the Round 1 and the Last Round closing rank for IISER Kolkata, candidates must secure a rank between 400 and 1805. Applicants must scored 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC and OBC-NCL categories and 55% for SC/ST/PWD in any recognised board. The required percentage is 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC/OBC-NCL and 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for SC/ST/PWD in class XII or equivalent exam.

Admission to the University is both entrance and merit-based. IISER Kolkata offers five courses in the field of Research, Science, and Technology at UG, PG, and doctoral level, namely a five-year BS-MS Dual Degree programme, MS in Space Physics, Integrated PhD, PhD and Postdoctoral Research programme across seven departments and five centres of excellence. In March/April, application forms for all programmes offered at IISER Kolkata are made available to the students through an online application process. The rooms are very spacious and even though we are 3 sharing at the moment, they do not cause any big problems. The rooms are very airy and keeping the window open is possibly the best way to relax.

The campus is located in one of the most naturally scenic places in West Bengal. West Bengal, for those who do not know, is a state known for it's Farms and Rivers and IISER Kolkata is right beside the BCKV GMO seed farm. Which is around 150 acres of land. The main attraction however, are the Gibbons! They are commonly seen in groups outside the Campus on the campus road or walls. I was so happy to see that unlike any other institution IISER Kolkata chose to preserve the nature around it and with it's fauna as well! The gibbons are so damn polite! they don't even want to take your food and are very peaceful.
