Good infrastructure and facilities. Absolutely satisfied with faculty and studies.
Placements: If you are looking for placements, then it is not a place for you, Here students mailny focus on research, then Ph.D. Although there are placements in college, not as many as IIT. Students do Ph.Ds abroad or in India and get a stipend. Many students preferred doing Ph.D. from abroad.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are excellent; all of them are very cooperative; they are best in their own particular areas. Labs here are fully equipped (best), library 24x7, Wi-Fi available in whole campus, hostels are good, mess food is very good compared to other places, at most all sports and games, 24?7 medical facilities (free). Want to know more, then visit the Iiser Kolkata site.
Faculty: Teachers are excellent in their own particular field (best); they are all Ph.D. holders and very cooperative. Here you will not remember things; you will understand it and learn to apply it in real life. Exams are not focused on memory but on understanding. If you come here, one thing is for sure: you don't have to memorise things. If you understand, then you pass the exam. Exams are focused on understanding why you may find them difficult because you will not be able to find questions as they are in your notes but based on them, but as I said earlier, if you pay slight attention in class then you are good to go. CGPA matters here; CGPA is certainly important. You should have a good CGPA because there are subjects that have minimum CGPA criteria.
Other: The best thing is that if you become a researcher, you can discover or invent new things, although it takes time but it's worth it.

Best faculty members and good infrastructure.
Placements: If you are coming for a job, then it is not a good option. Because most of the students choose to study further and do a Ph.D. in their specific subject. Since students do not choose jobs, placement cells are not that developed.
Infrastructure: The overall college infrastructure is excellent and we can say the same; over-top IIT and AIIMS infrastructure is also here. We get everything on the campus. There is no need to go out for anything. They have all academics classes and labs.
Faculty: We are provided with the top faculty or the top most teachers present at the national level. Our schedule is made by college and it is also on the official site of our college. We have exams on a regular basis and the question paper is set by the teacher itself.
Other: Our campus is controlled by students so that's why it is good and in the way we want.

The administration is slow.
Placements: In IISERs, students are encouraged to become scientists; hence, many students go for a Ph.D. in their respective topic of interest. Therefore, we can't expect any kind of placement from here but students get selected for Ph.D.s at top universities abroad or in India as well.
Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure, lecture hall and research complex is great. But the hostels here are not well built. The food here is comparatively better than at other colleges. For a person like me who seats moderately, it costs around 2,000 per month for the food. The location of the college itself is bad; there is no proper transport available, and the main city is quite far away.
Faculty: In the bio department, the faculty is knowledgeable but lacks the skill of teaching. The coursework until the 2nd year focuses on building students' interests in interdisciplinary subjects, which focuses more on the fundamentals of the subjects. After the third year, we get a good look at how to work in labs and stuff. The curriculum labs are great for building foundations, but not all students get hands-on due to the lack of management and the crowding.
Other: I chose this course considering my interests in research and lab work. But coming here made me realize that this was not me and that this isn't my passion. Thankfully, this course allows some freedom. Some students opt for an MBA and go business-side. I am exploring new options that fit my personal interests.

It is a perfect home for science enthusiasts.
Placements: Being a research-oriented institute, students passing out each year tend to go for pursuing higher education like PhD in various foreign universities rather than joining a company or job. People get posted in various laboratories in some of the cases.
Infrastructure: The institute has good quality infrastructure, although not the top of the line. The research and academic facilities are top-notch. It slightly lacks in the hostel department. The institute offers a 24*7 library, computer lab and Wi-Fi facility. The canteen is run by students called as student monitored canteen and provides various kinds of foods each day letting us choose what we have to eat that time. Different from most of the other institutes, we don't pay a fixed amount of money for food, but only to what we eat with a card recharge system just like an ATM card.
Faculty: The teachers in our institute are top of the line and are the best in their respective departments in the country. All are highly qualified. Since the pandemic, the classes have been online, and we felt a downgrade in the teaching system as we lack first-hand experience in most cases. The curriculum is very updated and the best to my knowledge. Semester exams can be easier to difficult depending on the courses and the capability of the students. On average, we can say that most of the questions are directed to all and a few to find out the outstanding performers.
Other: I belong to the 2019 BSMS batch, which means I will pass out in 2024. I was enthusiastic about learning pure science and being a researcher or scientist. So, I chose IISER Kolkata for pursuing my degree. I was curious about the field of Biology, so in my third year, I chose life science as my major. I wish we could go back to campus as soon as possible when the pandemic is controlled. We have various clubs, activities, courts and grounds for most of the sports.

Review of Indian Institute of Science Education & Research.
Placements: The main aim of the establishment of IISER was to guide students so that they can build a career in research. Most of the students from a batch opt for PhD after completing a BSMS degree. However, IISER K has a separate placement cell, and it organises placements for the interested students. Moreover, I would like to suggest you to join IISER if you are really interested in research.
Infrastructure: I am in my first year, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online classes are conducting now. So, I don't have any first-hand knowledge regarding the hostels, canteen, medical facilities and other things. As far as I came to know from our seniors, there is good Wi-Fi on the campus, well-decorated classrooms and libraries. There are different clubs for various types of sports like cricket, football, basketball, etc.
Faculty: Qualifications of IISER K professors are surely excellent. They are highly qualified and masters in their fields. Their teaching quality is very helpful for students. You can email them to ask questions, and they always try to answer them as soon as possible.

An institute for future scientists.
Placements: There are no such Placement cells in the institute. Students after completing their Masters prefer to pursue Ph.D. or some other jobs outside. Mostly all the students prefer to do summer/winter internships at different institutes and try to make new research papers. IISER Kolkata greatly supports the students by encouraging in the research area and making aware of new opportunities.
Infrastructure: Institute has Wi-Fi all over the campus. Labs are well-equipped with required experimental setups. If there is a need for any equipment which is not available in the institute, professors request the other institutes and make the work done. The computer lab is open for 24*7 hours. The library is also opened on 24*7 hours but except on national holidays. All the resources provided at the campus are sufficient to have a good stay. Hostels are in short in the campus and there is a need to construct more. Students are packed in 3 instead of 2 per room. Except that all the resources are up to the mark.
Faculty: Teaching quality is excellent in IISER Kolkata and. Professors' support is incredible and they have a good background. If you have any idea of your own, definitely they will help you out to make your idea success. The curriculum is well planned and the knowledge we get is more than sufficient.
Other: I aim to become a good scientist to serve the nation. I felt that IISER Kolkata is the best place to learn theoretical sciences. The best thing about the course is it is enjoyable. I don't feel that further development is required instead the present curriculum is good enough. INQUIVESTA is the annual fest of IISER Kolkata. There are many events happening in the institute daily conducted by many clubs. The campus is not crowded and it is completely far from Kolkata. In a pleasant greenery climate, the campus seems enjoyable.

IISER K is a place to motivate the researcher.
Placements: The main aim of IISER is to promote research in basic sciences, and as such, most of the students opt for higher education like PhD and others. After the completion of their BS-MS degree, they would eventually strive to join academia or a research institute to carry out high-quality research. Most of the students get a stipend during their BS-MS degree course through either INSPIRE (SHE) fellowship or KVPY. Some notable places where the alumni of IISER-K are currently pursuing higher education are Stanford University, Caltech, UC Irvine, Boston University, Ecole Polytechnique etc. There is a fraction of the student community who do end up taking other jobs. As far as I know, there has only been one company at IISER where students have been placed directly, i.e., TCS. Even this year, they have offered salary packages of around 11 LPA. IISER Kolkata is striving to increase the placement options for students, and a placement cell is being formed. IISER Kolkata has an entrepreneurship cell to help young entrepreneurs to bring their ideas into reality. IISER Kolkata students often get good research-oriented internships in India and abroad in universities and research institutes. Some notable places where students of IISER Kolkata have been offered short internships are Princeton University, UCLA, EPFL, Gottingen University, Lund University and many more. Some national level undergraduate research programs where IISER-K students often get selected include VSRP, SRFP, ICTS, SN Bhatt fellowship programme and more. Most of these offer a good stipend and TA.
Infrastructure: Facilities in IISER-K are mostly good. Hostels are top notch with twin-sharing for BS-MS and single-sharing rooms for PhD and IPhD students. Owing to the space crunch, some of the twin-sharing rooms are made triple-sharing and the single rooms to twin-sharing. This misery falls on the first and second-year students. However, many more hostels will come up in the future, and this issue is likely to get resolved. Rooms have good Wi-Fi connectivity. There are washing machines on almost every floor and geysers in the bathrooms. Apart from that, there is a laundry shop in the hostel basement. IISER-K has a student-run mess which is really good. It serves one of the best foods among all universities in India. Classrooms are spacious, air-conditioned and equipped with projectors and a computer. The library is still improving, but for an institute of only a decade old, it is faring quite well. There is plenty of variety in sports and games, and one may choose from athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, cricket, badminton, table tennis and chess to engage oneself. All these games have their playing area and are quite well-equipped. There is a high-end gym. Recently, a swimming pool has been constructed. IISER-K has a medical unit, and a general doctor is available every day except Sunday. A physiotherapist and a psychiatrist also visit the institute from time to time. The institute also has a high-end ambulance service for an emergency. The medical centre can be improved a bit. The staff are often a bit lackadaisical and not well-informed. But all in all, unless one has serious complications, can expect to get treated here.
Faculty: Faculty in IISER-K are top notch. A lot of them are pioneers in their field. The teaching methods vary with subjects. Teachers may use blackboards or slides as required. As mentioned earlier, the course curriculum is research-oriented and motivates one to take up research. In the final year of BS-MS, there is minimal coursework, and each student focuses on a research project under the supervision of a faculty. The faculty to student ratio as a whole would be roughly 1:10, and during the final year of BS-MS, a faculty supervises a maximum of 3 students to get the highest research output. The course curriculum is competitive and can often be difficult. The mathematics curriculum is often found to be the hardest, and only the brightest can farewell in them. The course pattern is updated very frequently according to the recent trends in research. In the higher years, many teachers provide term papers to test the research potential of students and also to invoke interest among them in the field. The examinations are carried out in various modules and the overall performance of students throughout the semester matters. Seminars and colloquiums are held regularly with distinguished speakers of India and abroad giving insightful talks. Students are always encouraged to participate in them.
Other: Being far from the city, life can be a bit monotonous here. IISER-K hosts a wide range of activities from musical events to inter-batch sports competitions, art competitions, writing competitions etc. Many cultural festivals of different parts of India are celebrated by the student community. These include Onam, Saraswati Puja, Bihu, Ganesh Chaturthi, Utkal Divas etc. The main aim of celebrating these festivals is to bring the community together. The most important event hosted by the student community is Inquivesta, the annual fest of IISER K. This is a fest of one of its kind, and many events are held. Being a scientific community, the fest often has a scientific flavour in it with many events testing the intellect of participants. Students from different colleges and universities visit here during this time. Other than that, the Inter IIISER sports meet and Inter IISER cultural meet are organised by one of the IISERs or NISER or IISc each year, and IISER K actively participates in them.

Pretty satisfied considering everything.
Placements: There are very few or no placements, the primary reason being that students want to pursue higher education or go into a different field. Though we have a placement cell and it does its work, mostly it’s the students who don’t want placements because the job might not pay well enough.
Infrastructure: Hostels and other facilities are all really good.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are really helpful and cooperative, except for a very few. All the staff and faculty members are friendly and approachable, they try their best to make the subject as interesting as possible. The exams are really well designed too.
Other: A lot of events and extracurricular activities. The college life of my dreams.
