IIT Dharwad was established in 2016 under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. It is one of the premium institutes not only across India, but across the world for Science and Technology. The institute is situated in Dharwad, Karnataka, and offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across various science and engineering disciplines. The faculty strength is currently 94 regular members plus visiting and adjunct professors.

Some details of a few departments of the IIT Dharwad are given in this article:

IIT Dharwad CSE Faculty

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in the year 2016, the same year IIT Dharwad was established. Currently, the department offers a four-year BTECH programme at the undergraduate level and research programs, a) MS (by Research) and b) PhD.

The faculty of IIT Dharwad CSE department's research is broadly categorised into three spines, namely, a) theory (logic, graph theory), b) systems (computer architecture, computer networks, parallel programming), c) intelligent systems (ML and AI). Besides the three spines, our faculty work in interdisciplinary areas such as cyber-physical systems, smart grids, which involve a wide range of problems related to data science, machine learning, distributed processing, security, etc.

The BTech curriculum is a unique combination of courses covering core fundamentals in computer science along with advanced topics aligned with the distinct research areas of our faculty. Moreover, the curriculum is updated on a regular basis to match the requirements of both academic research and the industry.

Inside the best 3rd gen IIT.

Faculty: The college has an amazing academic structure. Teacher-student ratio of 1:10 and maintains a good balance between studies and extracurricular activities. Professors with impeccable academic records. Sports coaches here are not just skilled but highly supportive. Whether a student is a beginner or a pro, the coaches have them covered.

Great things take time, and IIT Dharwad will shine.

Faculty: The course curriculum is good like the other IITs. Teachers are highly qualified. Their teaching quality is very good. There are 2 short exams like quizzes along with mid-semester and end-semester. The course curriculum mainly focused on subjects like physics, chemistry maths, and biology in the first year, and then onwards to the specific industry.

Good infrastructure but come mentally prepared.

Faculty: Semester exams are difficult. Students have to prepare from the start of the semester itself. Yes, the chemical engineering branch is really helpful in the core side. Almost all the professors are highly qualified, but a few don't have proper ability to teach.

I think, as a 3rd Gen IIT student, the placements are improving from year to year.

Faculty: Good faculty, nice qualified teachers, and Ph.D. teachers from prospective IITs. The courses for the first year are very relevant, and the exams are quite difficult, but you can do with minimum preparation day by day. Exams are quizzes, midsem, and endsem exams.

Our college has good faculty members who happily clear students' doubts.

Faculty: Teachers are ready to clarify our doubts. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Semester exams are medium to difficult. The pass percentage is 30%.

Campus has good infrastructure and food but placements are absolutely bad.

Faculty: I would say it’s okay. Faculty members don’t personally care about your grades. However, teachers have at least 7–8 years of experience in teaching and are graduates from IITs or NITs. Curriculum is well-organised. You get a total of 4 months of holidays per year, with 3 months for summer holidays and 1 month for winter holidays.

IITs with best buildings, the latest IITs.

Faculty: The curriculum is super good. Exams are not so tough, but they are okay. Paper standards are set by the professors who teach us, and attempting those papers will be thrilling and exciting. Yes, of course, our course curriculum is relevant to our daily lives and makes us ready for the industry.

The basic idea about IIT Dharwad.

Faculty: The faculty here is good, as there are professors who have done their Ph.D. from MIT and other foreign institutes. There are timings for meeting the professors, so you can take your doubts there. About the course, we have to take a major in the 4th semester. You can take Math, Physics, Chemistry, or Bio. The curriculum is very good, as in Physics and Math, we have AIML in our program electives, so you can define your career. There are visiting professors from IIT Bombay and Delhi who take our co...

Nice infrastructure and facilities.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in studies. They give quick replies to our doubts in class and online. The course makes students industry-ready. The difficulty of semester exams is below average. The course is very helpful to students. Lessons taught by teachers are helpful in the future.

Campus life at IIT Dharwad.

Faculty: Teachers here are amazing and highly qualified, with many years of teaching experience in other IITs, and the curriculum here is relevant. But there is a strict attendance policy of 80% mandatory attendance; failure to achieve this results in a DX grade and the student has to repeat this course again. The level of exams here is on a bit tougher side, but can be handled if someone attends classes regularly and attentively.

The college provides excellent infrastructure and faculty.

Faculty: They provided us with excellent faculty. They are very helpful to us. Yes, this course curriculum is relevant. The difficulty of the semester exams depends upon the teacher of the subject. The teacher was directly involved with us in tutorial sessions to clear out doubts in the subject.

Not satisfied with the mess, but satisfied with the faculty.

Faculty: The teachers are student-friendly and highly knowledgeable. But sometimes they go a bit fast to complete the syllabus for curriculum. The semester exams are difficult, in my opinion. We can score good marks only if we start studying after 2 weeks; otherwise, it will become a big task.

One of the best IITs in south india.

Faculty: Of course the faculty in IIT's are super cool and super talented and they were highly qualified, even some are from various IIT's. Even they hire faculty from top institutions as guest professors. They explain the course in a very broad manner and exams will not be so tough but okay, and the pass percentage is approximately 70%.

Our college got good placements, but slightly dissatisfied with the mess.

Faculty: The faculty at IIT Dharwad are knowledgeable and have a lot of experience. For the CS branch, the course curriculum is somewhat irrelevant for the 1st semester, where we have credit for biology and chemistry. But from then on, the course curriculum is relevant to the branch. The pass percentage is about 95 percent.

I am actually satisfied with the faculty, but dissatisfied with the mess food.

Faculty: The teachers here are very helpful to us. Almost everyone of them also graduated from IIT. But the curriculum seems to be quite irrelevant. The exams are up to main level. They test your conceptual understanding. The pass percentage is almost about 85 percent.
