The payment date has been extended till midnight of October 25, 2025. IIT JAM 2026 Admission Process

IIT JAM 2026 Application Process began on September 5, 2025, for all the candidates who wish to appear for the IIT JAM Exam. Candidates must visit the official website to complete the registration process, or they can directly click on the link below to access the IIT JAM 2026 Registration Link. The end date for candidates to complete the IIT JAM Application Process and to submit the application fee was October 20, 2025. The application fee date has been extended till midnight of October 25, 2025. But all the students are advised to check the official website daily for any other latest information.

The IIT JAM 2026 exam will be held on February 15, 2026, for admissions to the MSc, MSc (Tech), MS and Integrated PhD programmes. For the academic session 2026-2027, IIT Bombay is the examination conducting body for the admission process right from the release of the notification, JAM 2026 Registration, exam, result and counselling process. According to the JAM exam 2026 notification release, the exam officials will conduct the IIT JAM 2026 registration process till October 20, 2026.

What is IIT JAM 2026?

The Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is an all-India level online entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) every year on a rotational basis on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIT JAM is conducted to provide admission to candidates in MSc and other postgraduate courses offered at IITs and integrated PhD courses offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) also accept JAM scores for MSc admissions.

What is JAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria

It's important to note that while the core JAM eligibility criteria set a national benchmark, individual universities can define additional program-specific requirements. These might pertain to work experience, specific test scores, or portfolios. It is the responsibility of the candidates to prove that they satisfy the IIT JAM 2026 Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission.

IIT JAM 2026 Registration

IIT JAM Application form 2026 registration link was activated on September 5, 2025, on the official website. The IIT JAM application form 2026 is available in online mode on the official website of the exam till October 20, 2025 . The payment date has been extended till midnight of October 25, 2025. Candidates need to first register by providing their personal and educational details. After receiving the registration credentials via email and SMS, they have to log in again and fill up the application form with the rest of the personal and academic details, exam city preference, course preference and document upload. After all details on the application form are filled in, candidates need to pay the application fee. Candidates could make the payment of the application fee online (through credit/ debit card/net banking).

IIT JAM 2026 Application Fee

After the form is submitted, a new window will open that will display the name and enrollment ID of the candidate. The window will also display the amount to be paid by the candidate as the application fee. After checking these details, candidates need to click on the 'Proceed to Payment' button.

What is the IIT JAM 2026 Exam Pattern?

IIT JAM 2026 exam pattern states that each test paper is of a three-hour duration. In the exam, candidates need to attempt 60 questions, which were of 100 marks weightage. These 60 questions are divided into three sections – A, B, and C. The medium of instruction for JAM test papers is English.

IIT JAM 2026 Exam Analysis

JAM 2026 exam will be conducted on February 15, 2026, at 100 exam centres across the nation. The exam will be held to test the domain knowledge of candidates for the subject they have applied for. The exam will be conducted in 6 subjects namely, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Economics and Geology. The questions in the examination will be asked from the subject-specific graduate level.

IIT JAM 2026 Answer Key

After the successful conduct of the IIT JAM 2026 exam, at first, the exam officials will release the JAM 2026 provisional answer key. The dates for the announcement of the JAM 2026 answer key will be notified soon. Candidates will also get the opportunity to raise objections against the JAM 2024 provisional answer key in the given timeline. Based on the objections raised by the candidates, an expert team will examine the objections and JAM 2026 final answer key will be released.
