The total tuition fee for IIT Jammu's MTech programme is INR 80,000. This fee element, howevet, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. Other than the tuition fee, students have to pay other one-time charges, such as the application fee, entrance application fee, exam fee, library, alumni and other charges. However, this fee and fee-breakup can be sourced from the admission office of IIT Jammu once admission is confirmed. BTech at IIT Jammu is available across seven specialisations. IIT Jammu's UG courses include 20% seats (category wise) for IIT Jammu + IIM Jammu dual degree program (four-year BTech of IIT Jammu and two-year MBA of IIM Jammu). The transition to IIM Jammu MBA is to be opted by the end of the third year of the IIT Jammu BTech course. This is a direct transition to IIM Jammu MBA programme that too without CAT and is subject to having a minimum CGPA of 7.0 in the BTech course. All these specialisations are as follows:

Yes, GATE exam dates have been announced. The GATE application form gets released on the official website at gate.iisc.ac.in. The exam will be conducted online as a computer-based test for 29 papers. Students will be required to solve 65 questions in 180 minutes (3 hours). The GATE syllabus is based on General Aptitude and Core Discipline, carrying a weightage of 15% and 85% respectively. The schedule of JEE Main counselling will be declared by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority after the declaration of the JEE Main result. The counselling will be conducted tentatively in the months of June and July. There will be a total of six rounds of counselling and seat allotment which will be conducted by JOSAA. Students who will appear in JEE Main 2024 and will obtain a valid score will be eligible to participate in the JEE Main counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs including IIT Jammu.

No, JEE Main 2024 dates for admission to IIT Jammu are not out yet. It is expected that JEE Main 2024 notification will be released in the first week of December. NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2024 exam in two sessions in January and April. The exact date of the exam for both sessions will be announced in the notification. IIT Jammu offers a two-yearM.Techprogramme across six specialisations. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Eligible students seeking admission must qualify for the entrance exam for admission to IIT Jammu. As mentioned, candidates who wish to apply to theM.Techprogramme must have a valid GATE score. However, candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE score and then the shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview for final seat allotment process.

IIT Jammu has released the placement report for M.Tech in Tunnel Engineering for the year 2023. As per the placement statistics 2023, the highest package offered was INR 5 LPA. As of now, no previous year placement data has been found for Tunnel Engineering. Tunnel Engineering course is part of M.Tech Civil Engineering. However, no placement data for the previous last two years for Tunnel Engineering has been found on the official website.

No, students seeking admission to IIT Jammu for MTech are required to have a valid score in the GATE exam. Other than this, the institute also conducts a written test and interview for further selection as per the official brochure. To add, students are also required to have passed their BTech degree in relevant branch. This information is as per details released by the institute for admission to its MTech course. However, for any other information around direct admission, candidates are advised to reach out to the admission office of the college for details. 

Candidates seeking admission to BTech at IIT Jammu need to appear in both JEE Main and JEE Advanced and further go through JoSAA counselling to secure admission.  For MTech, admission is subject to GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Admission to PhD programme is entrance-based. Applicants need to appear for IIT JAM for admission to MSc programme.

No, aspirants must pass Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to apply for BTech programme at IIT Jammu. Candidates must also pass JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced to get a seat in the BTech programme.

Yes, while applying for the MTech programme at IIT Jammu, a student has to first register compulsorily on COAP portal. It is also mandatory for all candidates with valid GATE score to register at COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) and use the COAP registration number while filling the application form of IIT Jammu. The application fee for M.Tech registration at IIT Jammu portal is INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates and INR 300 for other category candidates.

As per the JEE Advanced cutoff 2026 for Round 1, the IIT Jammu CSE cutoff was 6738 for General AI category students. For IIT Goa and IIT Bhilai, the first-round closing ranks for the same specialisations were 6448 and 7981, respectively. So, comparing the cutoff ranks, IIT Jammu has a lenient cutoff as compared to IIT Goa for admission. On the other hand, IIT Goa had the most competitive cutoff for admission to the CSE branch. 

The cutoff trend for BTech at IIT Jammu has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for BTech under General category for all India quota was 13048. In 2023, it increased to 14589. Likewise, the cut off ranks have increased from 4903 to 4906 for OBC, 2398 to 2660 for SC, 1128 to 1212 for ST, 2085 to 2487 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for Engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.
