IIT Patna Admission Overview 2025
IIIT Patna admission 2025 is completely an online process. For admission to its flagship course, i.e., BTech, the institute accepts JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. Students are also required to qualify JEE Main exam before appearing for JEE Advanced. In addition to its flagship course, IIT Patna offers BS, MSc, MTech and PhD courses to students at the UG, PG and doctoral levels. While admission to MTech and MSc is subject to GATE and IIT JAM, respectively, the admission process for BS is subject to a valid score in JEE Main, JEE Advanced, followed by JoSAA counselling.
1. Application:
BTech aspirants in IIT Patna must apply in JEE main and then appear in JEE advanced. Admissions in the MSc and MTech must be through IIT JAM and GATE respectively. The other classes are to check the specific entrance test information in the official site.
2. Entrance Exams:
JEE Main, then JEE Advanced, is needed to take admission in BTech and BS courses of IIT Patna. The candidates who take MSc should appear in the IIT JAM exam and those who take MTech should appear in the GATE exam. The entrance examinations vary depending on the course and thus, the candidates are asked to read the requirements.
3. Selection Rounds:
In IIT Patna, admission to BTech can be done on the basis of JEE advanced marks and rank by taking part in JoSAA counselling. The process of admission to MSc is dependent on IIT JAM scores, and CCMN counselling, and the process of admission to MTech is dependant on GATE scores through COAP. Other programmes may involve merit lists or institution specific rounds.
4. Counselling and Admission Confirmation:
Applicants of BTech are made to go through counselling in JoSAA, after which they receive a seat based on their rank and preference. IIT Patna Application Process 2025
IIT Patna JEE Mains is a four-step process that includes registration, filling in the academic and personal information, uploading the necessary documents, and fee payment. Follow the steps below to fill out the JEE Main 2024 application form for IIT Patna admission:
Step 1: Visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: Select the option that says "New Candidate Registration."
Step 3: Complete the registration form with the necessary data, then click on the "submit" button. A login ID and password will be sent to the registered mobile phone or email ID.
Step 4: Log in using the details provided and fill in all the information asked in the application form. After which the documents and photographs should be scanned and uploaded.

IIT Patna M.Tech dates are inclusives of GATE 2025 exam dates. The GATE COAP 2025 registration is open for the ME/MTech courses, and the deadline is May 15, 2025. Further, the GATE COAP 2025 round 1 window to view offers and take a decision will be opened on May 17, 2025 (10 AM).
