All About IIT-IIM Dual Degree Courses
Some Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) offer special programs that combine a Bachelor’s degree in Technology (BTech) with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). These programs are a collaboration between the IITs and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
In these dual degree courses, students can complete their BTech at an IIT and, if they meet certain academic performance criteria, move directly into an MBA program at an IIM without having to take the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is usually required for MBA admissions.
To participate, students must first take the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced to get into a BTech program at one of the participating IITs. They need to maintain a specified academic record during their BTech studies, and if they do well, they will be eligible to transition into the MBA program at an IIM by the time they finish their BTech degree. This pathway offers a streamlined route for students looking to combine technical skills with business knowledge.

Benefits of IIT-IIM BTech+MBA Dual Degree Course
Pursuing an MBA after completing a Bachelor’s in Technology (BTech) has become a popular choice for many students. One of the main reasons for this trend is the growing demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between technology and management. Companies today are looking for individuals who can understand both their technological needs and business challenges, acting as thoughtful advisors rather than just executing tasks.
Another advantage of obtaining an MBA is that it often leads to better job opportunities and higher salaries for graduates. As job openings in some traditional engineering fields have decreased, the MBA provides an alternative route to secure rewarding positions in the workforce.
