It is worth taking admission at the Institute of Home Economics in journalism course.
Placements: Approximately 30% of the students got placed in the college by themselves. The college does not provide placements in our course because we have a bachelor's degree. In the previous session, some seniors were placed in various media agencies by themselves only.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is average as the same old Delhi University building in red colors. It has a brick structure. The college does not provide a hostel for any course either journalism microbiology, or other courses. They only have two wings A block and B block.
Faculty: Faculty members of the college are not that great and not that professional. They treat well to students who are financially strong. Exams are conducted so strictly and professionally. They follow the guidelines of the Delhi University.
Other: There is nothing more to describe about the college, to be honest. I got this college from the CUET exam score. The journalism course is all about practical learning rather than the subjective and theoretical part where we learn about photography, filmmaking, writing blogs, newspaper editing, and different digital platform values.

Journalism in a institute of home economics - Such a trap!
Placements: The placement cell at the college is quite average, and the overall qualification of students compared to other journalism schools is not competitive. Placement opportunities are minimal, with only 2-3 out of 60 students securing placements.
Infrastructure: The college has a female-dominated student body but lacks modern amenities. Basic necessities like proper benches, tables, and equipment are in poor condition. Only one room is equipped with a projector, and it is also in bad shape. The infrastructure is insufficient for a journalism program that requires advanced facilities.
Faculty: While the teaching quality is inconsistent, with some faculty failing to upskill students, the exams are notably strict. It’s hard to study the entire syllabus as there’s little emphasis on practical learning or improving students’ journalism skills. However, a few qualified faculty members from JMI stand out and are highly competent, which is why I rate the faculty 4 stars, thanks to them.
Other: The overall college experience is frustrating, with little emphasis on productivity and more focus on unhealthy competitiveness.

Life of students from freshers to graduation.
Placements: In the Institute of Home Economics, various courses are offered, but the placement cell is still not great. Internships are advised and recommended by teachers, and they help students with the same. Roles offered in our course are varied, including podcasting, PR, teaching, journalism, and advice on communication strategies.
Infrastructure: Facilities are average, with an audio room and digital cameras. However, the college has a small campus with small rooms for studying. The hostel situation is worse because there is no hostel; Google shows fake reviews. These fake reviews make a fresher's life different and difficult to manage in a PG.
Faculty: The faculty of this particular course at the college has a mixture of good and bad teachers. Many professors are great, but some are not. Some professors, despite having much experience, are less effective in teaching and sharing their knowledge.

    IHE, future of the nation.
Placements: IHE has a placement cell known as eminence. It hosts a placement fair every year where renowned companies come to hire students for internships and placements. The college also provides on-campus placements after completion of the course, followed by an interview screening procedure.
Infrastructure: IHE has a really good infrastructure as compared to the rest of the du colleges. It has one canteen, stationary shops, auditoriums, and huge grounds at the back. It even stands for events like music jamming and dance events. Classrooms have well-working fans and lights. 2 libraries are there with full seating arrangements and enough study material.
Faculty: The faculty is really supportive here. Most of the faculty even provide notes for their subjects. You can even reach out to them for other matters, despite academics. They are always up for help in academics, even after classes. Most of the teachers are experienced and professional in their respective fields.
Other: IHE has really good infrastructure, faculty and crowds. I chose this college as it is the top college at Du on the south campus. College also organizes many educational trips, and it conducts festivals, events and workshops occasionally. It also provides on-campus placements for most of its students. The HOD and other heads are supportive even outside the classroom setting.

I am not satisfied with this college because of its placements.
Placements: Companies won't visit our college to recruit students. Small television news channels visit our college to recruit students. Many students are working in different news channel fields like PR and advertising. Many students want to do anchoring in their future.
Infrastructure: Our college is Wi-Fi enabled. Its speed is slow. A media club is available along with a separate media department. Classrooms are well-maintained. They have proper charts, bulletin boards, and models for reference. The library is available in our college.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and experienced. They are well-qualified in their fields. They provide notes daily in either hard copy or soft copy format. Semester exams are not difficult if you prepare well. The highest CGPA scored is 9 CGPA.
Other: This course provides good knowledge. Many events and fests are held in our college. They organise many competitions.

Great faculty (teaching as well as non-teaching).
Placements: I am going to be really honest, the college itself doesn't provide any placements. I am in my 3rd (last) year and not once has a placement opportunity been given to us. But, the placement cell of IHE, EMINENCE (handled by the students only) holds internship & job fairs where recruiters visit the campus and take interviews.
Infrastructure: No hostel facilities are available. Bad network connection. Classrooms are big & spacious (can comfortably fit around 60 students at once). Conditions of washrooms is pretty average. TEACHERS are good. One thing I like about there. You may not like someone because of their personality sometimes, but every teacher is great in their own ways. We have a gym and pretty good sports facilities. Library present and has a variety of books on the courses available. Canteen is good. Great even if you're hungry.
Faculty: Teachers explain & complete the given syllabus and yes they are knowledgeable. The course curriculum set by the university is okayish as sometimes us students feel that the same topics are being repeated. Relating to journalism, the curriculum provides us with good theoretical & average practical knowledge of what a journalist needs to know. At the end field work provides the best experience. The course curriculum (except for some additional subjects) is very much relevant to the course. (ITS SUBJECTIVE) semester exams' difficulty level. For me it was average as I knew the answers. Maybe to some it may feel like easy or tough. Overall the questions were relevant with the topics we were taught. Pass percentage is around 35% (as far as I know).
Other: I did not choose journalism. My initial choice was mass comm but somehow I ended up here. The department provides equipment such as dslr cameras, an audio studio, laptops etc. Whenever needed or issued. Things to improve are: internship opportunities IN RELATIVE FIELDS. Events & fests are good here. Considering that it falls in the south campus and is not so famous, the footfall is great. One of the best location advantages: metro station being right across the road. Informative seminars & sessions are organised pretty frequently.
