JIS College of Engineering has been one of the top institutes in the state of West Bengal. As per the official website of the JIS College of Engineering, requests for deferrals are not granted automatically. The application needs to be submitted along with reason of deferral. JEE Main is conducted in two sessions each year, with session 2 usually held in April. As far as the hostel food is concerned, it is not up to par; the quality is not very good. Students always complain about the food in the hostels. Mess and PG are nearby colleges; their food quality is much better than hostel food. Many students prefer mess and PGs to hostels.

The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated using a credit-based approach at JIS College of Engineering. The CGPA is a measure of a student's academic performance during the course of their studies.

WBJEE Counselling 2025 was conducted in two rounds, namely Round 1 and Round 2, followed by the Defence quota counselling. 

In JISCE every course is best in their domain but as far as the innovation, research and holistic studies are concerned ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) is the best engineering course. CSE and CST are also equally best as the demand is very high for these course.
