NID Ahmedabad Seat Reservation 2025
NID offers full-time four-year BDes with the specialisation of Industrial Design, Communication Design, and Textile & Apparel Design with a multi-disciplinary approach. The Ahmedabad campus has a total of 125 seats available for the BDes programme. In the NID DAT reservation is 10% of its seats for the EWS students in both BDes and MDes courses. NID Ahmedabad admission is based on NID Design Aptitude Test conducted for B. Des and M.Des courses. The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:
DAT Prelims - The applicant takes the Prelims test initially.
DAT Mains - students are chosen for DAT Mains based on their performance in that Prelims.
It is compulsory to appear in both Prelims and Mains. NID DAT Prelims comprises both objective- and subjective-type questions.
The NIFT and NID DAT are different entrance exams. Also, while the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) released an official syllabus for the NIFT entrance exam, the National Institute of Design (NID) doesn’t release any official syllabus.
So, the only option for the NID aspirant is to consult previous years’ papers and sample test papers to get an idea regarding the types of questions that may be asked in the NID DAT 2024 exam.
And no, the NIFT 2024 syllabus cannot be relied on to prepare for the NID DAT exam. The candidate may refer to the NIFT syllabus only to further their knowledge.

The total tuition fee for BDes at NID Ahmedabad is INR 16.84 lakh. BDes is a four-year course divided into eight semesters and the fee for each semester is INR 1.83 lakh. While admission there are components that will be added to the total tuition fee as well, such as the student activity fund and film club, so the final fee including these components and the total tuition fee might change a little.
A pass in Class 12 in any stream is required to apply for the BDes course. Only Indian citizens born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible for admission under the General Category or the General EWS Category. Applicants born on or after 1 July 2000 in the Reserved Category (Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layers (OBCNCL), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) may apply.For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
