Commonly asked questions
On NIFT Entrance Exam Cutoffs
Q:   How much Rank should I score to get a seat at NIFT Delhi?
A:

NIFT Delhi cutoff 2025 has been announced for admission across multiple specialisations for the Round 1 seat allotment results. In NIFT 2025, the closing rank for the candidates belonging to General All India quota stood between 15 and 800. The competition remains intense due to limited seats for Master of Fashion Technology (M.FTech) and Master of Design (M.Des.). The Round 1 for the aforementioned courses stood at 15 and 24, respectively.

In addition, the overall cutoff rank for the OBC AI category quota ranged between 29 and 2703 as per the Round 1 seat allotment results.

Q:   Is the NIFT cut-off higher for top institutes such as NIFT Delhi?
A:
NIFT Delhi is frequently ranked among the top design colleges in the country. So, the admission cut-off for the institute is pretty high, especially when compared to the lower ranked colleges. This is because being a higher ranked college, NIFT Delhi receives a higher number of applicants. Another factor is more number of higher ranked candidates want to get admission in the institute, which also pushes up the cut-off. On the other hand, lower ranked colleges are not a priority for the top ranked candidates; meaning a higher number of lower ranked candidates applies to these institutes. This keeps the cut-off low in these institutes.
Q:   What rank is required for NIFT Delhi B.Des admission?
A:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi admits students to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses based on their NIFT entrance exam scores. As per the NIFT Delhi cutoff 2025, the Round 1 closing rank for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme ranged between 54 and 800 for the students belonging to the General All India category. Among all the specialisations, B.Des. in Fashion Communication was the most competitive, with the lowest cutoff rank of 54. For other specialisations, the NIFT Round 1 closing ranks are tabulated below:

B.Des. in Fashion Design - Batch of 2027

National Institute of Fashion Technology isn't for everyone.
Placements: A lot of MNCs come to the college every year, and many students get placed, but it's a hard competition. The highest package is 16 LPA to 18 LPA, while the average is 7 LPA to 8 LPA. Companies like Aditya Birla, L&T, etc., hire students. Internships depend on your skills. I have seen people working as interns in H&M as well as unemployed.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good, with stone walls and AC labs. There are two divisions of the college, new and old. The new one has better classrooms, while the old one needs a bit of refurbishing. The canteen and water supply aren't great, and there's only a girls' hostel, no boys' hostel available.
Faculty: Teachers here are highly qualified and smart, and they have worked in the industry for many years. Some departments, like Fashion Design, are strict, as whatever you study at NIFT is useful if you know how to harness it. The jury depends on how much time you’ve put in and how early you start.
Other: I choose this course out of passion, and I am happy with it. I feel that if the college improves its attendance policy, it would be heaven. Fests and communities here at NIFT are top-tier.

Proud of my decision of choosing to come here.
Placements: Usually, all the students get placed. Either through college placements, faculty's help, or through connections/college exposure. The highest package is 60k p/m and the lowest package is 20k p/m. Fashion designer, analyst, stylist, and forecaster are the roles offered.
Infrastructure: Provides Wi-Fi, labs, smart classrooms, 3D printers, the highest technologies, library, hostels for girls only, play areas, etc. The faculty members also stay here till 7 p.m., so it’s usually good for asking doubts and seeking help. Quality and cleanliness are really good here.
Faculty: Extremely experienced teachers with great helpful connections that help in the future a lot. Exams are actually easy, but the competition makes it hard since comparatively marking works here. Pressure is what makes the exam difficult. Passing mark is usually above 40% on all subjects.
Other: Exposure and learning from the most experienced. More internship opportunities. Very happening college life, a good amount of events.

Certificate in Designing and Styling for Indian Fashion - Batch of 2023
2.6
1Placements3Infrastructure3Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life2Value for Money
Absolutely satisfied with the designing department but not with the styling department.
Placements: Since it was a certificate course, they didn’t provide placements, which didn’t make sense because it was still from one of the most reputed colleges in India. Even if they couldn’t provide placement opportunities, the least they could have done was to give contacts for internships.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided during the course were exceptional, as a design college should offer. Labs, classrooms, you name it. The library in the college was top-notch, one of the very best I had experienced. Campus life was pretty chill. But, the certificate course students were highly segregated from the regular courses, which created a sense of disconnection.
Faculty: Teachers for the course were well-learned and had in-depth knowledge about the subject. However, it was a designing and styling course, and I felt they had the designing department covered really well. But they needed to step up in the other departments. I felt they need better faculty members and more industry-related exposure, which was not provided during the entire course.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to pursue a career in styling, but I had very less exposure to it same even after I finished the course. It also didn’t have a formal styling department, which made it very difficult for students to learn about current trends and stay on top of the industry.

Review of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi.
Placements: More than 50 percent of students got good placements. Top recruiting companies are apparel retail companies like ABFRL, Tata Trent, and RBL and fashion consultancy companies like Wazir Advisors. Roles offered include management trainee, buyer, merchandiser, etc.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is limited but functional. Spacious classrooms are available, with specific labs for sewing, technical testing, and material exploration, equipped with specialized equipment. Library has a vast supply of fashion-related resources and more. Canteen and hostel are available.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and experienced, with strong industry relations. They are highly skilled and supportive. Course curriculum is relevant to modern-day needs. Exams and assignments are moderately tough, with a focus on practical learning. There is a mid-term, end-term, and final jury presentation.
Other: the course is relevant with modern-day opportunities in the fashion industry. NIFT is a world-reputed fashion institute with strong industry relations. College life is superb, with plenty of extracurricular activities, clubs, and college societies.

Top recruiters are Wazir, Aditya Birla, etc. All students secured internships with the help of professors or seniors.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available are all in good condition. Labs are top-notch. Canteen food is okayish, cold coffee is the best. Labs stay open as late as 9:00 PM depending on the workload. Basketball court is available. Hostel facilities are good.
