Admission to NIFT's MBA programme depends on various factors beyond the entrance exam score, such as the number of applicants, available seats, and the competition in a given year. While securing 88% in the NIFT Entrance Exam is a good score, the final admission depends on the overall performance and the cutoff for the MBA programme at NIFT Mumbai that year. To be eligible for admission to the Master of Design (M.Des) programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai, you must have passed an undergraduate degree from a law-recognized institution in India, or have an undergraduate Diploma of at least three years from NIFT or NID. You must also be at most 23 years old as of October 1, 2023, but the upper age limit may be extended by five years for candidates of SC, ST, or differently abled. You must also have completed 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognised board.
The cutoff for 2023 year was between rank 80 for fashion communication and rank 191 for fashion design.
The cutoff for 2022,2021 and 2020 has also been in this range with a plus minus of 10 ranks.
If you want to get admission in any course of your choice then you should target a rank of top100.
The written tests for the NIFT 2024 exam was held on February 5, 2024. The written tests comprised a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates.
The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
The NIFT 2024 application form correction window is open, and results will be announced in the last week of April 2024. The total seats available for students in the 2024 participating colleges are 5,215, divided into different categories: 4,324 for All-India candidates, 405 for state-domicile candidates, and 470 for NRI candidates.
The eligibility criteria for B.Des at NIFT Mumbai include:
1. *Age Limit*: General category candidates should be under 23 years old as of October 1 of the admission year. There's a relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories.
2. *Educational Qualifications*: You need to have passed the 10+2 level examination from a recognised board in India or any other country, or its equivalent. Those appearing for the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
3. *Qualifying Exam*: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 level exam with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the case of the general category and 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Additionally, to secure admission, you need to clear the NIFT Entrance Exam (GAT and CAT) and subsequently participate in the counselling process.
To get admission in NIFT Mumbai for B.Des programme, one has to give NIFT Entrance Exam.
To be eligible one has to pass Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board.

The average salary package for B.Des students at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai ranges from INR 5–6 Lacs per year, with the highest package being INR 12 Lacs per year. The lowest salary package offered is INR 3 Lacs per year.
B.Des students can earn an income ranging from INR 4–7 Lacs at the start, and can find work as a graphic designer, UI/UX designer, fashion stylist, or start their own studio.
Companies visit the NIFT campus and conduct pre-placement talks to introduce themselves to the students and provide information about job profiles, salary packages, and selection criteria. Shortlisted candidates can participate in interviews, which either will be conducted on-campus or online
Students seeking admission at National Institute of Fashion Technology Mumbai for BFTech programme need to satisfy the minimum criteria of passing the qualifying exam. Students are required to pass Class 12 or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognised board. The institute accepts students based on valid scores secured by them in the NIFT entrance exam. NIFT Mumbai also accepts lateral entry for its BFTech programme. Interested students can visit the official website of the institute to apply for the course online.
NIFT Mumbai admits students to its BDes courses via scores obtained in the NIFT Entrance Exam. For 2025 admissions, this test was conducted by NTA on Feb 9, 2025. Moreover, NTA has also released the entrance exam results. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check their results and download their scorecards by using their login details on the official website.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) released the NIFT 2024 application form on December 5, 2023.
The NIFT application can be filled with both regular and late fees of INR 5,000.
The last date to apply with regular fees was January 3, 2024. However, with late fees, application was accepted up to January 16, 2024.
NIFT has also released the program-wise eligibility criteria that candidate needs to meet for admission to the design program they are applying to. The National Institute of Fashion Technology currently offers B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech, and MFM courses at its 18 participating NIFTs.
The total fee is around INR 150,000 per semester. The scholarship provided is called SARTHAK and it provides financial aid to economically weaker students.
For scholarships, you have to provide documents like Aadhar card, pan card, your bank details and your last one-year transaction details of bank, your income certificate.
The scholarship is only for tuition fees and the student has to take care of the food and lodging expenses.
The most popular design programme offered by NIFTs at the UG level is Bachelor of Design (BDes) and at the PG level is Master of Design (MDes).

B.Des. in Accessory Design was the most competitive specialisation considering its last round closing rank. So, as per the NIFT last round cutoff, candidates seeking admission to NIFT Mumbai must secure a rank upto 3400 to be eligible for B.Des admission.

Yes, at NIFT Mumbai, students can withdraw their admission if they wish to. Such students are also entitled to a refund of fees. However, the refund is subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions. Listed below are the guidelines to be followed as per the fee refund policy of the institute:

The NIFT Mumbai BDes total fees is calculated by adding all the fee elements to be paid by the students during the entire course duration.
