For general category students, the minimum eligibility requirement is 60% or 6.5 CGPA for UG. To get a seat in the National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses, candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies to register themselves. Eligible candidates are then required to appear for the entrance test, followed by another selection process. Apart from these, to get a seat in NIT Uttarakhand students are also required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria of the course.

NIT Uttarakhand offers a four-year BTech, and a two-year MTech programme at the UG and PG levels, respectively. The programmes are offered in five specialisations: Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. For admission to its BTech programme, NIT Uttarakhand accepts JEE Main scores, whereas for admission to its MTech programme, the institute accepts GATE scores. NIT Uttarakhand accepts GATE/ NET/ SET scores, for admission to its PhD programme.
