An honest college review.

Placements: There is no such scheme of placements in the college. Various companies or associations come to introduce themselves and their works and in return select a few students who are suitable for the role of the job they were looking for. They offer internships, mostly paid, and take interviews of the students who are interested.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. The best thing is we get the air-conditioned rooms as it gets impossible in summer of Kolkata to attend classes. The campus is quite eco-friendly as it is surrounded by nature. There are lots of flowering plants and trees. The beautiful flowering plants make the campus look very nice and a photogenic space for the students. It's aesthetics is the one that the students most appreciate of it. The availability of many computers and other equipment required by the students in the lab is another good thing about the college. I don't live in a hostel.

Faculty: There are 5-6 teachers in the English faculty and each year students vary from 60-80 in numbers. The faculty members are pretty good at teaching but a little less supportive. Though literature is tough if someone really likes reading stuff, you may go ahead. It basically develops one's thinking process and encourages one to think out of the box. Creative writing is one of its aspects and it has a lot of scope in the real world. The duration is 3 hours of paper for 65 marks.

Other: No events or fests take place in the college. I hope they take some initiative about it.

Good faculty but no campus.

Placements: I haven't heard of placements in B.A. Engineering Honors, to be honest. But I have heard of students from our course doing internships. Many times, they get the information from professors or seniors or from course information that is forwarded by the college to us.

Infrastructure: We do have WiFi, but we do not have access to it. The labs look clean; however, I do not know the details. The classrooms are always cleaned. The library is not something I visit often. The library faculty is very rude. The canteen should speed up a bit. The service is very slow and it is quite overpriced.

Faculty: The faculty is great. All the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable and they help you if you need any. We are the last batch studying the old syllabus. The syllabus is huge but the amount of knowledge you get makes it worth it. I find the syllabus quite lovely.

Other: Sadly, there is no campus here. All that you see belongs to the school. Fest has not been celebrated for almost the past 3 to 4 years.

Our college provides good infrastructure, facilities, and teachers.

Placements: Internships were offered at this college. There were a lot of other fun opportunities. There was a drive by some brand that was looking for a new model.

Infrastructure: The college itself did not provide hostel facilities, but there were several facilities quite close to the college. One of the best parts about the college was the infrastructure. The classrooms were great, with air-conditioning. Some rooms were especially good, like the ones reserved for the conference, which were kept locked. There was Wi-Fi, but I think you must ask for the password from someone in the office. There was a mike and projector in every classroom.

Faculty: We study English, so there are less opportunities for us to have knowledge about the industry, but our teachers were great. They were dedicated and genuinely good. The exams were held by Calcutta University since this is an affiliated college. Questions awere easy, but it was important to be prepared to write answers in the exam hall.

Other: English is a course that leaves a wide range of opportunities for students to do what they want. The most obvious jobs you could have are in the teaching and journalism fields. The college organises many events throughout the year, such as Srijan, which is famous. If students wish to join extra-curricular activities, there are tons of opportunities for them to do so. There is a dress code, but it isn't actually enforced, which for me is one of the good points about this college, especially when you hear about how dress codes are enforced, in other reputed colleges in the country. There are some foreign language courses, which you can access from the college itself. I do wish the college teachers would take some time to educate us about possible job opportunities we could have after leaving the college, and what to expect if we choose to continue with academia.

It has great faculty members, but the campus could be better.

Placements: Generally, Shikshayatan has an extremely high placement rate, with many well-to-do companies taking part in the charade. As our course is English, it doesn't offer much scope for placements through college, but a small stipend can still be acquired.

Infrastructure: There is no hostel for this college. You need to find your own accommodation, but as the college is in an excellent location, it's not hard to find a good PG. The building is beautiful, but the campus itself isn't huge. There is an excellent library and labs.

Faculty: Faculty members are excellent. All teachers are extremely educated, sophisticated, and lovely. CU's course is one of the best curricula in India and one of the most difficult too, but as the structure is very carefully articulated, the pass percentage is very high. If you put in a little bit of effort, you can easily sail through.

Other: B.A. English is a great course of study. Our department is the largest in the college. The campus could've been better.

It is an awesome college, and the faculty members are good.

Placements: Selecting a college is one of the most important aspects of a student's life. Apart from looking at B-School, ranking, fees and ROI, the placements and various other factors are also considered. Candidates need authentic first-hand information about the shortlisted colleges.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is well established, and it has one of the best infrastructures. All the facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, medical facilities, sports and games are available. The labs are well furnished, but the classrooms are quite suffocating. Hostel facilities are really good.

Faculty: The faculty members and course curriculum are good, with a friendly aura. Different opinions are considered in the classroom, and healthy discussions are appreciated. The student crowd is good. Professors are also good. Their teaching quality is very smart.

Other: The college organises many events in almost all fields, including science, entertainment, academics etc.

My college has shaped by personality completely.

Placements: About 50-60% got jobs through the placement counselling from our college campus. There were companies like INDIGO present for college campusing. There were atleast 30 companies present during the 3 days of campusing in our college premises. The position offered were at BPO levels and the packages offered by the companies were starting from 10000 per month.

Infrastructure: The college offers Wi-Fi. It has fully air conditioned classrooms and canteen. The college is very clean starting from the washrooms to the corridors and classroom. The food quality (full veg) is also prepared in a very hygienic condition.

Faculty: The college follows the syllabus laid down by Calcutta University. The teachers are very helpful and highly qualified. The course curriculum is highly relevant. The teaching quality is great. There is also opportunities for smart call, or digital display board. The teachers were highly knowledgeable.

Review of Shri Shikshayatan College.

Placements: There are no placements from the college for B.A (Hons). However, the college provides opportunities for students to shine brightly in future by conducting different seminars, competitions and other activities. They regularly arrange different competitions such as debate, creative writing, dance, drama etc. The college provides a great scope for students who want to choose the sports field and also takes them to the national and international level.

Infrastructure: The college has a well-planned infrastructure. There is a well-equipped common room with all the gym equipment. There is a well-furnished library. The canteen is hygienic. There are clean washrooms on every floor. All the classrooms are air-conditioned. The college is well-secured by many guards, and they are very strict about ID cards. Anyone without a proper identity card can't walk into the campus.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are cooperative and very helpful. They are frank and patient with every student. They teach in a very friendly atmosphere. Even the staff members of the college are very helpful. They all expect students to be disciplined in order to prepare them for a bright future.

Other: Several events are held by the college like sports day, Charcha, and most importantly, the college fest known as Srijan.

Amazing college and great teachers.

Placements: There is a placement cell in the college, which however doesn't guarantee anything. It depends on how well one scores in all the exams, including the extracurriculars. The college can provide great recommendations though, but one's grade is very important.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is amazing and the classrooms are pretty big with AC in all of them. The college is very clean, the staff members are very good. The benches are comfortable and the overall structure is very nice. The college has a good canteen with sufficient food available. The college is 4 storeys tall with all the labs and everything.

Faculty: The English department is extremely good. All the teachers are very friendly, their way of teaching is very unique. All the professors are very educated and amazing at their work. I totally recommend any course in the college. They follow the Calcutta University syllabus so I cannot comment much about the curriculum but the professors are really good.

Other: The college is very nice for BA, all the subjects. The teachers are very good and there is a lot of scope for further studies in the college. The principal is very cooperative and she is always up for something new. There are regular seminars in the college for all possible subjects. The guest lecturers are from great colleges. It is one of the best girl's college in Kolkata. Nearby accommodation is also easily available for outstation students.
