Life at Smit - an experience.

Placements: Placements at SMIT are quite good with 80 percent of students getting placed. The highest package offered was 90 LPA, the lowest was 5 LPA and the average package was 10 LPA. Many well-known companies visit the campus for placements including Amazon, TCS, Myntra, Tata, Ola and Byju's. Almost everyone gets an internship, and top roles offered include front-end developer and editor.

Infrastructure: The classrooms at SMIT are big, wide, and spacious, and they are also clean. The Wi-Fi is very fast. The library is chilled and spacious, and it offers a large range of books, from mathematics to chemistry to physics. Many project files and research papers are also available, along with an e-library.

Faculty: The teachers were friendly and helpful, and the curriculum was relevant and prepared me for the industry. The exams were moderate to hard, and the pass percentage was around 60%.

Other: I chose this course because I want to be a good engineer and help in the nation's development. SMIT has a lot of events and festivals, including Kaalrav, the biggest college fest. Extracurricular activities also take place from time to time. There are a variety of scholarships you can apply for, including sports, JEE, merit, and EWS.

This college, in general, is a good college.

Placements: SMIT doesn't have placements for civil engineering at all. Not even a single batchmate of mine got placement. It does have a good placement percentage for computer engineering students as the placement percentage is 96%. Other departments have a good placement rate too.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is what makes joining this college reasonable. SMIT is one of the best colleges and also have the best infrastructure, better than most of the college in Sikkim. It has a huge vicinity and an amazing sports facility too. Hostel is also good.

Faculty: Faculty is moderate but better than other Bachelor colleges in Sikkim. Teachers are very helpful and the way they approach academically is impeccable too. The course curriculum is relevant but not upto the mark for students who plan to sit for all India exams.

Our college has good infrastructure, and helpful and caring teachers.

Placements: A very less number of students get placed in the civil department, but there is a high chance of getting internships. Whereas placements for non-core branches are going on where there are multiple companies recruited students from our college. Companies like Dxt Technology, Capgemini, Dell, and Accenture visited the campus with a salary package of 4 LPA.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our department are very efficient and help us to catch with the speed of technology and day by day increase of technology. There are two hostels one is boys and the other is for girls. Over there we have a separate mess system in the hostel, and a sports complex is also available. We have a marina food court available.

Faculty: Faculty members are so helpful and caring. They are well qualified and have good experience of teaching which helps us gain knowledge and move forward with confidence in the fast-moving world. Teachers are masters and Ph.D. holders and with their educational level, they teach us in a well and easy manner in which we can catch.

Other: I chose this branch because I always wanted to work in this field.

It provides good placements for 2021, and very good infrastructure.

Placements: Placements of non-core branches are going well, even in the online mode many students get placed in companies like Dell, HP, Cognizant, DXC, and many other such companies. In core branch students, the status of the placements are not up to the mark. However, students get an open chance to apply for the companies irrelevant to their stream, so they have a chance to get placed. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure-wise college has all the laboratories for every stream. Campus is well-equipped with Wi-Fi. Almost all the classrooms are digitally equipped with the gadgets that are needed for teaching purposes. Hostels are well maintained and come with accommodation of 2 students in a room. Hostels have Wi-Fi connections all over the building. There are in total 4 hostels, 2 for boys, and 2 for girls. The hostel mess provides food 4 times a day, including snacks in the evening time. The food provided is hygienic and tasty. Mess also provide seasonal food to the students and the mess menu is decided with the advice of nutrition experts, so that students get the proper nutrition required. If students are gym enthusiasts or sportsperson, then the college has good gym, a sports area i.e marena, a swimming pool, and many more. There is a massive library with thousands of books in the college, it also has a digital library section and also offers a reading area for the students.

Faculty: All the teachers have a master's degree in their field and are very knowledgeable. Students are taught everything from the basic level to the industry level. The exams papers are kept tough and as per the things taught by this college faculty members. The teachers are very helpful and also give special attention to the weak students.

Other: I opted for this course because I wanted to be in the construction area. From the beginning, I have a fascination with buildings, bridges, and tunnels. Students who are brilliant in studies and have procured more than 95% in 12th get scholarships also. The college is situated in between the mountains, alongside the river Teesta. The weather is cold and the environment is clean and fresh. Some students are also from outside the country, the college also offers a student exchange program. Every year college organizes the biggest college fest in the northeast, Kaalrav, and the rest of the year many other departmental fests are going on the campus.

It is an excellent college.

Placements: There are very low placements from the civil branch. I am from the civil branch, so we were recommended by teachers to write GATE. Very few core companies visit here. Top branches here are computer science and IT followed by electronics, but some may get placed in the electronics first.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good with excellent quality. Labs and classrooms are clean, and the library has abundant books. You can issue more than one book at a time. The food is excellent, and the medical facilities and sports complex are excellent. There is a snack outlet and a food court.

Faculty: Faculty members of our college are excellent. The course curriculum is relevant. They make you realise whether you are learning anything or not. The pass percentage is around 35 out of 100 marks. It is easy to pass if you maintain your internals well. The lab work is precise, and unfair work is not rewarded.

Other: Faculty members are excellent, and the curriculum makes students industry-ready. Events are average, but the campus crowd is good. Connectivity is average, but scholarships are good. Extracurricular activities are less.
