Applicants must have cleared a two year Masters or a professional degree declared equivalent to a Masters degree by the relevant statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade of "B" on the UGC 7 point scale or an equivalent grade wherever a different grading system is used. Alternatively, applicants may have an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an authorized agency in that country, responsible for ensuring educational quality and standards. M.Phil. Qualification: Applicants who have cleared M.Phil. coursework with at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade of "B" as per the UGC 7 point scale or equivalent and have successfully cleared the M.Phil. degree are eligible to pursue research work leading to a Ph.D. in the same institution. Relaxation in Marks: A relaxation of 5% marks (i.e., min. 50% instead of 55%) or an equivalent grade is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwD (Persons with Disabilities) categories.
