Best for masters in biotechnology.

Placements: For M.Sc. in biotechnology, we did not have any direct campus interviews or placements. However, some recruiters contacted us indirectly through our HOD and the college placement cell. The average salary offered would be 5-6 lacs p.a. The companies generally included scientific writing, pharmaceutical and biotechnology-based firms. As a part of our fourth semester, we were supposed to complete a four-month internship in any reputed research institute. Generally, the students of our stream are not offered any stipend during this internship.

Infrastructure: This college is very popular due to its British architecture and well established modern infrastructure. There is a central Wi-Fi facility available to all the students free of cost. The college also has good laboratory set-ups, spacious classrooms and a very profound library. Moreover, the basketball court gives adequate room for students to indulge in sports and games. The college also has a hostel facility for boys. Moreover, the canteen offers a great variety of healthy and hygienic food. The sanitary conditions are also excellent.

Faculty: The faculty of the college is truly enlightening and experienced. They offer knowledge and guidance through student-friendly interactions. Modern teaching methods including presentations, discussions, debate, etc. are used. The student-faculty ratio in my department was about 10:1. Industry exposure was less in my course. However, the course curriculum offered various useful scientific streams as well as allied works.

Other: The exposure and opportunities available at this college are remarkably better than any other college in Mumbai offering M.Sc. In biotechnology course. Also, the autonomous nature of the college and its good management system are added advantages to students since they could reap out maximum benefits from the course in a limited period of time.

Review of St. Xavier's College.

Placements: I am studying in this college. Placements in our college are excellent. Almost 80-90% of students get placed every year. Companies offer a good package for the students. The minimum salary package offered ranges between 4-5 LPA, and the maximum salary package offered ranges between 12-15 LPA. There is a placement cell in the college which helps the students in an effective way.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is excellent. The college provides Free Wi-Fi facility for the student so that they can access during their break time. Quality of the food served is good for students. Canteen member is far awesome. Football ground and basketball are provided for the students. There are many labs for students.

Faculty: Most of the teachers in our college are well qualified. RC Chada named teacher is one of the well-qualified people at the college. A counselled teacher is also provided for the student. Teachers and staff members are very friendly and cooperative. Canteens staff members are the best in college.

Other: Our college conducts many fests in a particular year. One of the popular fests named Malhar is organised which comes in the second most popular fest in Mumbai.

The most reputed colleges in Bangalore and Pune like the IISC and IISER admit students through the JAM entrance exam. Many private colleges have their own entrance exams. Other good colleges in Mumbai, like St. Xavier's admits students purely on merit basis but with a high cut off.
