SLAT 2027 Counselling will start tentatively in the final week of January 2027. Each of the four Symbiosis Law School (SLS) handles SLAT counselling process separately. Aspirants who wish to join any law program in SLS Pune, SLS Hyderabad, SLS Nagpur, or SLS Noida will have to attend SLAT exam counselling procedure. Eligible candidates need to go through SLAT counselling 2027 process to gain admission in the BA LLB or BBA LLB courses in SLS universities all over India.
During counselling, students are admitted based on SLAT score as well as a personal interview. SLS 2027 Admission Process has multiple stages at the university. Each SLS releases the shortlisted candidates for the PI stage. Then, after that, each SLS releases the SLAT merit list for round 1, round 2 & round 3 as per the availability of the seat. Selection is done depending upon the score obtained in the SLAT results and Personal Interview (PI). In SLAT selection criteria, the marks obtained in SLAT will carry a weightage of 70 per cent. While the other 30 per cent of marks are taken from the Personal Interview (PI) stage.

SLAT 2027 Counselling Process
Counselling: To be notified
SLAT counselling process 2027 will have three main steps. These are counselling registration (along with fee payment), PI round and document submission process. The details of each section are provided below:
- Online counselling registration and fee payment: Candidates will have to register for counselling online. Counselling registration is done on SLAT official website. Registered candidates are issued call letters to appear for PI rounds.
- Appearing for PI: Candidates have to appear for PI rounds where a panel of judges tests candidates based on general awareness, legal knowledge and other relevant topics.
- Merit list and selection rounds - Based on SLAT & PI scores, each institute prepares its own merit list, and the shortlisted candidates have to secure a seat by paying the admission fee and completing other formalities.

SLAT 2027 Selection Criteria
Each participating college of SLAT conducts a PI for the final selection of candidates, which is based on the following parameters (with weightage out of 100 marks):

The candidates scoring the highest marks in each parameter are selected for final seat allotment. Each college publishes category-wise cut-off marks as well as waitlist as per the seat availability.

Documents required for SLAT 2027 Counselling
The candidates participating in counselling process should carry their SLAT application form along with the following documents in original as well as photocopies to the counselling venue. The documents required are:
- Domicile certificate issued by the competent authority.
- Class 10th mark sheet and certificate.
- Class 12th mark sheet.
Candidates who are appearing for or awaiting results of the Class 12th or equivalent examination should submit a bona fide certificate issued by the current school. Besides, candidates should also carry the printout of the scorecard and the SLAT admit card.
Commonly asked questions
The SLAT merit list for a particular year is a list containing the name, registration number, and roll number of the candidates who achieved marks equal to or higher than the SLAT cut-off for the SLAT entrance exam conducted in the same year. The SLAT cut-off is made up of scores secured by candidates in the SLAT exam, PI and What. A merit list includes the name, roll number, registration number, collective marks secured by them in SLAT What, and PI their merit rank, and category. Based on the selection of candidates in the SLAT merit lists for a particular 5-year LL.B. Programme, seats are offered to each candidate. They need to book their respective seats by paying the admission before the due date ascertained by the SLS from whose merit list they get selected.
The Symbiosis International Law University has discontinued Writing Ability Test from the SLAT Admission Process from 2025 admission cycle.
SLAT exam authority uses University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for SLAT reservation policy. As per the exam authority, the total percentage of reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates is 15. The total percentage of seats reserved for Scheduled Tries candidates in SLAT is 7.5%. The exam authority has reserved 5% of seats for wards of Defence Personnel at Symbiosis Law School Pune. The reservation facility for wards of Defence personnel is not available at the other three Symbiosis Law Schools. Moreover, 3% of total seats are reserved for Different Able candidates in all SLSs through SLAT.

Candidates can prepare for SLAT from Class 11 by practising topics from which questions are asked in the exam. The topics of subjects from which questions are asked in SLAT are Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension (English), and General Knowledge. Under the General Knowledge subject, SLAT aspirants also need to study static GK related to History, Geography, Indian and International Politics, and United Nations Organisation (UNO) and its bodies, and current affairs. To study the mentioned subjects for SLAT preparation from Class 11, candidates can purchase books containing sample papers, practice tests, and mock tests based on the SLAT syllabus and pattern. They can devote 1-2 hours every day to SALT preparation. No, candidates cannot get admission to SLS Pune and the other three SLSs, namely, SLS Noida, SLS Hyderabad, and SLS Nagpur, without appearing in the SLAT exam.
Getting 45 or more marks in SLAT is mostly seen as a good score. It gives you a better chance of getting into a top Symbiosis Law School. If you're aiming for SLS Pune, the most competitive one, try to score around 48–52 marks. A score above 40 is still decent and can keep you in the race. The cutoffs change from one campus to another. SLS Noida usually needs around 42–47 marks, SLS Hyderabad about 38–44, and SLS Nagpur close to 36–41 marks.
Multiple-choice questions are asked in the SLAT question papers. Candidates are required to answer these questions in a computer-based test mode (online).
SLAT refers to the Symbiosis Law Admission Test which is conducted by the four SLSs (Symbiosis Law Schools) in India.

To be eligible for the SLAT exam, candidates should pass 10+2 exam from any recognised board. Candidates from the general or open category must have scored 45%.
The difficulty level of the SLAT and CLAT exams varies depending on various factors such as exam pattern, exam difficulty level, and the number of candidates who appear for the exam. The following observations have been noted:
- The English section of CLAT is more difficult.
- The GK section of SLAT is easier than CLAT.
- CLAT is definitely tougher than SLAT in terms of competition
- The SLAT syllabus is easier than the CLAT syllabus.
