The college experience has changed me as a person in a positive way, says Anshul Rahul Bamb

Given a chance, I would like to engage myself in mentoring my juniors and peers, so that they could overcome the obstacles in a much better way than I did in my time. In my opinion, no matter what the name/brand of the college is, your success depends on the opportunities provided to you and how efficiently you accomplish them.
My keen interest in problem solving and Mathematics played an important role in selecting Science as a stream in Higher Secondary School. In my High School, I was among the toppers which had a great impact on me and motivated me a lot to take up Science as my stream for my higher studies. Choosing Science helped me in my journey towards taking up an Engineering course for my graduation.

I joined coaching classes to start preparing for entrance exams for Engineering along with my schooling. I scored great marks in Computer Science in class 12th and gained the first position in this subject that encouraged me to pursue core Science and gain more knowledge about it. Again, my interests in problem solving and Mathematics led me to choose Computer Science Engineering as my course in college. In my opinion, no field other than Engineering was better to showcase my problem-solving skills. Since everything is going online these days, I knew I had to choose Computer Science as my course for graduation. I always wanted to discover more about web development and coding. And, opting for Computer Science was the best way to do it.
I cracked admission in my college by securing a good rank in VITEEE, which is the entrance exam dedicated to admissions at Vellore Institute of Technology. The entrance exams that I gave included JEE Main, JEE Advanced, CET, VITEEE, and BITSAT. For that, I joined the Bakliwal coaching class, which was a renowned institute in my city. I also started spending most of my time studying in a library to be more focused, and so that I could avoid any distractions. Another thing I avoided was the usage of a cell phone. I didn’t own a smartphone until I completed my 12th grade. This helped me to be disciplined throughout the way. Preparing for JEE helped me prepare for other entrances like CET and VITEEE as well.
The other colleges that I was trying out for were IITs. It was tricky handling the preparations for all these entrance exams as well as gear up for my HSC board examinations. But all went well, my persistence and hard work led me to be among the toppers. The overwhelming pressure of appearing for several examinations equipped me with the confidence of juggling multiple tasks together and accomplishing them before the deadline. This proved to be extremely beneficial in the long run.
Apart from my subjects in college, I engage myself in completing core computer courses and learning new technologies. The classes that I like to attend are related to Data Structures and Algorithms. My extra-curricular activities include being a core committee member at DSC and working as an intern with the designation of a digital marketer, web developer, and content writer. In my free time, I like working out and playing football. My other activities include reading books based on financial literacy and research more about investment opportunities. Given a chance, I would like to engage myself in mentoring my juniors and peers, so that they could overcome the obstacles in a much better way than I did in my time. I also invest my time in hosting live webinars to teach avid tech enthusiasts about various technologies. My dream job is to work at Marvel studios as a software engineer, as I am very curious about the Marvel universe and love watching their extravagant movies.
The college experience has changed me as a person in a positive way, as living in a new city has made me more independent and self-disciplined. I have learned to be grateful for all the affection and support my family has given me throughout the journey. I feel college life has taught me that, no matter what the name/brand of the college is, your success depends on the opportunities provided to you and how efficiently you accomplish them. At the end of the day, only you are the one stopping yourself, and only you can change yourself for the better.
