TNEA 2025 Dates: The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) will release the TNEA counselling dates on the official website, tneaonline.org. The TNEA counselling schedule will include important dates like registration dates, random number release dates, certificate verification dates, rank list release dates and counselling dates. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees. The dates for all these events will also be announced separately and updated on this page.

10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50 and Chemistry – 50). Q:   When will the TNEA notification be out?

A:

TNEA 2025 notification released on May 2025. TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu conducts TNEA every year. It is an online counselling window. All Indian National candidates who wish to take admission to Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University and for the seats surrendered by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu have to apply for TNEA counselling.

TNEA counselling is a Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals only. The courses offered via this online counselling are BE/BTech and BE (sandwich) courses. TNEA counselling is conducted online in 4 rounds as per the Schedule. Candidates need to participate in corresponding rounds based on their rank.

Q:   When will DoTE release the TNEA Random Number?

TNEA 2025 Random Number will be out in June 2025. Registered candidates have to sign in by entering login Id/email Id and password to view their unique random number allotted by the authority. The conducting body also informs all the registered candidates about the assigned random number of TNEA 2025 through SMS. The random number will be a 10 digit number that will be allotted to the candidates randomly. Candidates have to verify their documents at TFCs as per their assigned TNEA random number.

Q:   When will the TNEA document verification at the TFCs start?

A:

The TNEA 2025 document verification at the TFC will be held in June. The uploaded certificates are subjected to verification at the TFCs selected by the candidates in the online application form. The Certificate uploading and verification procedure is intimated after the completion of the registration process. While verifying the documents uploaded during TNEA 2025 registration, candidates have to follow the following steps:

If the status shown is Incomplete, candidates have to scan all the required certificates as a single pdf file and upload it.

After uploading they must freeze the upload and logout.

If the status shown is 'upload not completed and Upload status as Not started', scan all the certificates as a single pdf file and upload.

After uploading freeze the upload and logout.

If the status shown is 'In Progress', it indicates that Certificate verification is under process.

If the status shown is 'Completed successfully', then it indicates that Certificate verification is completed successfully for that Application.

TNEA 2025 Registration Dates

The TNEA application process for the year 2025 includes registration, filling out the application form, previewing the form, paying the application fee, and generating the confirmation page. After completing the online application, candidates must print a copy of the form for future reference. Those who have completed or are appearing for their 10+2 exams are eligible for TNEA 2025 counselling. The admission will be based on the candidate's marks in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, which will be normalized to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50, Chemistry – 50). The steps for the TNEA counselling application process are as follows: Registration, Login, Filling out the application form, Previewing and final submission, Payment of the application fee, and Printing the application form.

With the TNEA registration, the following activities will be also available:

The online certificate uploading window will stay open even after the registration window closes.

Q:   What are the requirements to apply for TNEA?

A:

To apply for TNEA 2025, candidates have to meet the below requirements: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates). They should have passed the 10+2 exam from Tamil Nadu board or any equivalent board. They must have cleared any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) with one of the Engineering related subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. Apart from that, they following requirements must be also met: Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu. Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission. Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers. Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions who at the time of TNEA 2025 application form submission had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile. Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2025. Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.

Domicile residents of Tamil Nadu should have Qualified 8th,9th,10th, and 10+2th standard in the state. If the domicile Residents have completed above standard from Outside the state, then they will also be eligible provided They bring their copy of Navity Certificate. Children of government employees whose parents have been serving the state for the past 5 years from the Day of application will also be eligible even if they are not domicile residents. Q:   Where do I apply for TNEA counselling?

A:

You have to apply on the official TNEA website. Engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu offer admission based on the results of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA exam.

  1. The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education is in charge of conducting this exam. Following the exam, seats are assigned in engineering colleges through the TNEA counselling process.
  2. After the results are released, you must register on the official TNEA website in order to take part in TNEA counselling.
  3. On the TNEA website, you have to fill out the application form, pay the counselling fees, and list your choices. 4. After the application process is finished, the TNEA will publish a list of seats allocated according to ranks.

TNEA 2025 general counselling will start in July 2025 and will end in September 2025. Candidates whose names appear in the rank list will have to appear for the counselling rounds. The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics:100, Physics + Chemistry 100) in the qualifying examination. The marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by various Boards or Authority shall be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method of normalisation.

The candidates who complete TNEA registration and document upload as per the deadline will be issued the TNEA random number. If all other tie-breaking criteria for determining rank in the TNEA merit list are inconclusive, a 10-digit random number will be assigned to each applicant. The random number will be used as the final tiebreaker, with the candidate holding the higher random number being given preference in the merit list. Access to the TNEA 2024 Random Number List is available to candidates by logging in using their registration number and date of birth.

TNEA Counselling 2025 Dates for Certificates Verification at TFC’s

The verification process for all certificates will be conducted online by TFCs, with in-person verification required for athletes in Chennai. Once the verification is completed, the TNEA 2025 merit list will be published based on merit, including only those candidates whose certificates have been verified.

Q:   Who conducts Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions or TNEA?

A:

Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu conducts Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission TNEA 2025. Earlier, TNEA counselling was conducted by Anna University. TNEA counselling is a single-window process and admissions in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges are offered through such a process because authorities believe that such an initiative facilitates transparency. TNEA rank list is used to offer admissions to candidates in undergraduate programmes like Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in colleges of Tamil Nadu. Candidates must note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped as the counselling is based on Class 12 marks and therefore seats are allotted in the colleges through the TNEA rank list.

Q:   Can a Diploma holder apply for TNEA?

A:

Yes, a Diploma holder candidate can apply for the TNEA examination. However, they have to complete their three years of engineering Diploma after class 12th with 50% aggregate score to be eligible to do so. Also, it is mandatory for the candidate to have completed the 12th grade before appearing in the examination.

Q:   Will I be able to correct the mistakes in TNEA application form at the time of counselling?

A:

Candidates can edit the TNEA 2025 application form until the last date of registration. The candidate has to fill up the details in the application form and they can give their preference of TFC for online Certificates Verification. The entered details can be viewed using the login information. The applicant can edit his/her information if necessary. Verify the entries made and if all the details are found correct then submit the online application on or before the last date. TNEA 2025 Rank List Release Date

The TNEA 2025 merit list is determined based on a total mark of 200, with specific weightage assigned to different subjects (Mathematics: 100, Physics: 50, Chemistry: 50). Candidate selection is based on their performance in these subjects, which is scaled down to a total of 200 marks in the qualifying examination. The marks provided by the candidates through the TNEA 2025 application form will undergo normalization, and a merit list will be published based on the normalized scores. Also, candidates will be allowed to report any grievances against the TNEA rank list within the specified deadline.

A:

TNEA 2025 rank list will be out in June tentatively. The rank / merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which is reduced to 200, Maths -100, Physics - 50 and Chemistry - 50. After the normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list. The overall rank and community rank are published on the official TNEA website. A week is reserved for addressing applicants grievances after the publication of the rank. TNEA 2025 Seat Allotment and Confirmation Date

Upon the conclusion of the choice filling window, DoTE will allocate seats to candidates based on their preferences, TNEA rank, and category. The seat allotment results will be accessible on the official website through the candidates' respective logins. It is important to note that the initial TNEA seat allotment is tentative. Candidates receiving a tentative allotment must confirm their seat.

Upon receiving a seat allocation in the TNEA 2025 counselling process, candidates have various options for confirming their seats. The available options are as follows:

Q:   When will TNEA supplementary counselling begin?

A:

TNEA 2025 supplementary counselling will be held in September. For TNEA counselling the applicants are grouped based on their rank and each group of applicants is allowed to participate in counselling according to their turn. TNEA 2025 counselling will have 4 rounds. The applicant has to login into the TNEA portal by using his/her user ID and Password (same as that used at the time of registration) for performing various activities in a particular round. The procedure for each round of counselling is as follows:

  1. Publication of eligible applicants: The list of eligible applicants for a particular round will be published in the TNEA portal.
  2. Rounds of TNEA 2025 counselling: Counselling will be conducted online in 4 rounds as per the Schedule. Candidates will participate in corresponding rounds based on their rank.

As per the First Graduate Tuition Fee Concession in TNEA, the Government have ordered to grant tuition fee concession to the candidates who are to be the first graduate in a family, those who are attending counselling and joined in professional courses in Government / Aided and Self-Financing Engine
