How Science became the perfect choice for me: Yogesh Yadav

I want to give my parents the best future. This is the most important reason why I went for engineering. I know that I am good at logics and understanding, so engineering is a good option for me. Then, I joined Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre. This college promises a perfect future too.

The three streams after class X for students to choose from are Science, Commerce, and Humanities/Arts. These three streams are broadly categorized as per their course structure and subjects, explained below:

Science: This field is related to medical or engineering studies, with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology.

Commerce: This stream is related to trade, commerce, business, and financial marketing. If you have strong mathematics and financial abilities, Commerce is the best stream for you.

Humanities/Arts: This stream is the widest of all, and is related to education in subjects like History, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, languages, Anthropology, Human Resources, Journalism, etc.

Below are the details, advantages, and educational prospects of each stream, which would answer the question of which subjects to choose after class X:

The Most Attractive- Science:

Science has always been the most fascinating among all streams and the most lucrative to study, but it is not a stream that you can just study without any interest. The main subjects to study in science are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and C++ (depending upon the school).

To a class X student, Science stream gives an opportunity to pursue their career in medical and engineering related fields. The subjects include practical labs sessions and theory classes, which require a lot of hard work from the students.

Further, a student can select medical or non-medical field, which is differentiated by Biology subject. For every medical student, it is important to study Biology as a core subject and the non-medical students must study Mathematics along with Physics and Chemistry. Computers is an optional subject too.

Commerce for Business:

Commerce field is all about learning and studying subjects related to trade, business, finance and economics. This is the most preferred stream of education for most of the class X students who wish to embark on a career or profession in MNCs, banks or even entrepreneurship. The important subjects to study in this field are, English, Business Studies, Economics, Accounts, and Computers.

You can also use a career aptitude test to help you take a decision.

Now, coming to me, I chose the Science stream. As for why I chose this, a single reason is not enough but I will try to sum them all-

I want to give my parents the best future. This is the most important reason why I went for engineering. I know that I am good at logic and understanding, so engineering is a good option for me. Then, I joined Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre. It is the best choice among all the colleges I was getting. This college ensures a perfect future, provided we perform our best. Moreover, this college is near my home, so that’s an extra benefit.

I took admission in the college in 2015. At that time, the selection process required JEE Mains or REAP rank. But I took admission in the college through my JEE Mains rank. I did not take any external coaching, I did self-study. I didn't try for any colleges other than Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre because at that time, HDI rank of that college was the first in Rajasthan, so I decided to take admission in this college.

My batch started in 2015. At that time, I joined a group of Parijat, which is our college fest. After some time, our college conducted a national-level fest. The national-level cultural fest of JECRC is Renaissance, in which I participated as a volunteer. In my second semester, I was a part of the promotion team. When I came to my 4th sem, I became a coordinator of R-Mech Olympiad, which is an event of Renaissance. In the 3rd year, I became a core team member of Renaissance. In my college, I was interested in joining practical classes, not theoretical. The 4 years I spent at my college were great.

To sum up, I want to include all the paragraphs in just a few lines. Here’s how I spent my time in college-

1. Going to class

2. Studying course materials

3. Reading for pleasure

4. Disconnecting

5. Having a good time with friends

6. Doing an internship

7. Spending time alone

8. Getting a job and treating studies like a job.
