HPCET MBA Pattern 2025: Know Marking Scheme & Exam Duration

Candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as possible in the HPCET paper. However, since there is negative marking in the HPCET paper, the candidates should be careful while choosing their questions and the respective answers. A total of 150 multiple-choice questions have to be attempted from the paper. Out of the provided options, the candidates will have to select the correct option and submit it. To complete the examination, the candidates are allotted three hours. 

As per the official HPCET exam pattern, the total duration of the entrance examination is 3 hours 15 minutes. The candidates will have to attempt 150 multiple-choice questions within the allotted time. No extra time will be provided to the candidates to complete the examination. Therefore, the candidates are advised to practice time-management so that they are able to complete the entrance examination within the allotted time limit. 

The marking scheme of HPCET is released online. Candidates are advised to check the marking scheme carefully to understand how their responses will be marked. For every correct answer, the authorities will award four marks to the candidates. However, one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Since there is negative marking, the candidates are advised to be careful while attempting the questions of HPCET. 

For HPCET BTech paper, the candidates will have to attempt multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The topics and units to be studied for the exam are released through the HPCET syllabus. However, for BPharm/BPharm (Ayurveda), the candidates will have to attempt questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Yes. Mock tests are important for HPCET preparation. By attempting the mock tests, the candidates will be able to understand the exam pattern and how the entrance examination will be conducted. Mock test will also allow the candidates to identify their commonly made mistakes and help them to correct it so that the same mistakes do not occur during the examination. All candidates are advised and encouraged to revise regularly so that they do not forget what they have earlier studied. Before the exam, the candidates are advised to allot more time in the schedule for revision. 

HPCET syllabus will be prepared and released online by the authorities. The subjects, topics and units that need to be studied for the upcoming entrance examination is released through the HPCET syllabus. Candidates are advised to refer to the official syllabus to understand what is to be studied and prepared to perform well in the examination. HPCET syllabus consists of the topics and units from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Along with the syllabus, the candidates are advised to check the official HPCET exam pattern.

Yes. Candidates are advised to refer to and study the entire HPCET syllabus, as prescribed by the authorities. Since the question paper will be prepared based on the official syllabus, the candidates are advised to be familiar with the prescribed syllabus of HPCET. However, the candidates can select and give more time to some of the important topics that are likely to present in the question paper and have a higher weightage. The list of important topics can be checked from the previous year papers. 

HPCET paper will consist of three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. Each subject will have two sections i.e., Section A will have 20 questions while Section B will have 40 questions. In Section A, all 20 questions have to be compulsorily attempted, while 30 questions have to be attempted from Section B. A total of 150 objective multiple-choice questions have to be attempted within 3 hours 15 minutes. No extra time will allotted to the candidates to complete the entrance examination. HPCET consists of multiple-choice questions that have to be attempted in 3 hours 15 minutes. All of the answers have to be marked in OMR sheets. The entrance examination will not be held in any other mode. 

HPCET 2025 exam date has been announced. The authorities conducted HPCET 2025 offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test at various centres on May 17, 2025. The candidates had to attempt and qualify the entrance exam to be eligible for BTech courses offered by the participating institutes.
