2 marks will be given for every correct answer. 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

What is HPCET 2026 exam pattern?

During 3 hour 15 minutes exam, candidates have to attempt 150 objective multiple choice questions. For every correct answer, one mark will be given. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

HPCET paper will consist of three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology. Each subject will have two sections i.e., Section A will have 20 questions while Section B will have 40 questions. In Section A, all 20 questions have to be compulsorily attempted, while 30 questions have to be attempted from Section B. A total of 150 objective multiple-choice questions have to be attempted within 3 hours 15 minutes. No extra time will allotted to the candidates to complete the entrance examination. All of the questions will be prepared as per the units and topics in the official HPCET syllabus.

HPTU authorities will not accept soft copies of ID proof at exam centre. While reporting for exam, candidates will have to bring their original valid ID proof along with HPCET hall ticket to the centre for verification.

No, HPCET is not compulsory for admissions to BTech at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Institute of Engineering and Technology. Students can apply through JEE Mains as well as HPCET.
