HPCET 2024 exam date has been announced. The authorities will conduct HPCET 2024 on May 10, 2024 (9 AM to 12:15 PM) as a pen-and-paper-based test at various centres. The HPCET 2024 application form is also expected to be released soon online. No other mode of application will be accepted by the authorities. Before HPCET 2024 registration, the candidates are advised to check the official eligibility criteria. All registered candidates will be able to access the HPCET 2024 admit card online. Without the admit card and identity proof, the candidates will not be able to attempt HPCET 2024. The scores obtained in the entrance examination will be released through the HPCET 2024 result. Qualified candidates will be able to participate in the HPCET 2024 counselling process. What is HPCET?

Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is organized by Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) to provide BTech/BPharm/BHMCT & BSc/MTech/MPharm/MSc/MBA/BBA/MCA/BCA admissions into the participating institutes of the state. HPCET is held offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test at various exam centres. BTech admissions are also offered based on JEE Main and 12th standard qualifying examination scores.

HPCET 2024 Application Form

HPCET 2024 application form will be released online. Candidates will be able to fill out and submit the HPCET application form before the final date, which will be announced soon. No applications will be accepted after the final date. During the HPCET application form 2024 process, the candidates will have to provide their valid personal, academic and contact details. The candidates will also have to select their preferred centres, upload their scanned documents and pay the fee. The required application fee has to be paid online i..e, through net banking/credit card/debit card.

HPCET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can take a look at the eligibility criteria required for admission to BTech programmes through HPCET. Those candidates who fail to meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered for admission into the participating institutes.

BTech (Direct): The candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects securing at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

Basic admission criteria for BTech programmes:

  • In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main) and HPCET, the remaining seats will be filled up based on the merit of the 12th standard examination conducted by a recognized Board or University.
  • The number of seats remaining vacant after taking admission based on each test/examination will be shifted and filled based on the next text/examination in continuous order.

Note: The % indicates the marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test/10+2 examination out of the total marks assigned to the entrance test/examination.

Q:   How can I register for HPCET?

A:

Candidates will be able to register for HPCET online at the official website. During the registration process, the candidates will have to provide their basic details. A password also has to be generated for future login. After the registration is done, the candidates will have to log in and fill out the application form with the required personal, academic and contact details. Next, the candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature, as per the official specifications. Finally, the application fee has to be paid online.

 

Q:   What is the application fee of HPCET?

A:

While filling out the HPCET application form, the candidates will have to pay the fee to be registered for the examination and admission process. Candidates will be able to make the fee payment through both online (net banking/debit card/credit card) and offline mode (e-challan). SC/ST/BPL category candidates have to pay INR 800 as the HPCET application fee, while other category candidates will have to pay INR 1,600. If the candidates are not able to pay the fee, then the application will not be accepted. 

 

HPCET 2024 Syllabus

The authorities will soon release the official HPCET 2024 syllabus online for the reference of all candidates. The subjects and topics that have to be studied for the entrance examination will be available through the HPCET syllabus 2024. Candidates are advised to check the syllabus to be well-prepared for the entrance examination. The subjects included in the syllabus are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 

Q:   What is the syllabus for the HPCET Exam?

A:

HPCET syllabus will be prepared and released online by the authorities. The subjects, topics and units that need to be studied for the upcoming entrance examination is released through the HPCET syllabus. Candidates are advised to refer to the official syllabus to understand what is to be studied and prepared to perform well in the examination. Yes. Candidates are advised to refer to and study the entire HPCET syllabus, as prescribed by the authorities. Since the question paper will be prepared based on the official syllabus, the candidates are advised to be familiar with the prescribed syllabus of HPCET. However, the candidates can select and give more time to some of the important topics that are likely to present in the question paper and have a higher weightage. HPCET 2024 Exam Pattern

Candidates will be able to check the details on how the entrance examination will be conducted through the HPCET exam pattern 2024. Information related to the exam mode, duration, type of questions, marking scheme and more will be available in the exam pattern of HPCET 2024. Q:   Will HPCET be held online?

A:

No. HPCET will be held offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test. Candidates will have to report to their allotted centre and attempt the examination in offline mode. HPCET consists of multiple-choice questions that have to be attempted in 3 hours. All of the answers have to be marked in OMR sheets. The entrance examination will not be held in any other mode. 

 

Q:   What is the marking scheme of HPCET?

The marking scheme of HPCET will be released online. Candidates are advised to check the marking scheme carefully to understand how their responses will be marked. For every correct answer, the authorities will award two marks to the candidates. However, 0.5 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Since there is negative marking, the candidates are advised to be careful while attempting the questions of HPCET.

Q:   Is there a tie-breaking rule for HPCET result?

A:

Yes, the authorities do prepare tie-breaking rules in case two or more candidates secure the same marks in HPCET or the qualifying exam. In such situations, firstly, the candidates who have a higher HPCET score in Physics will be ranked higher, followed by Chemistry. In case the tie still remains, then the qualifying examination marks will be taken into consideration for allotment of ranks. Finally, if the tie does not break, then the candidates who are older in age will be allotted the higher rank.

 

HPCET 2024 Counselling

Qualified candidates will have to register and participate in the counselling of HPCET 2024. After registration, the candidates will have to fill out their personal and academic details and upload their scanned photographs and signatures. Allotment of seats will be done offline at the counselling venue based on the candidate's merit, preferences and seat availability. The allotted candidates will have to confirm their admission by paying the required fee. If the admission confirmation is not done before the final date, then the allotment will be cancelled.

Q:   Will HPCET counselling be held online?

A:

HPCET counselling will be held in both online and offline mode. Qualified candidates will be required to fill out the application form for the HPCET counselling process online. All of the required details have to provided online and the candidates will have to upload their documents and pay the fee. The choice filling process has to be completed online before the final date. However, for the seat allotment, the candidates will have to report to the counselling venue as per their category. For confirmation of admission, the candidates will have to report to their allotted college, verify their documents and pay the tuition fee.

While reporting to the allotted colleges to confirm their admission through HPCET counselling, the candidates will have to present certain documents for verification. If the candidates unable to present their documents for verification, then they will not be able to confirm their admission.
