AFCAT Notification 2026: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will release the AFCAT 2 notification in December 2025. AFCAT 2 official notification will be released in May 2026. AFCAT 2026 apply online link will be activated along with the notification. The last date to fill the application form will be notified by the examination authority. 

Unmarried male and female candidates are eligible for the exam. AFCAT exam dates are mentioned in the detailed notification. The notification of AFCAT 2025 was published in PDF form and comprises the important details related to the exam. 

AFCAT exam is conducted to select candidates for admission to the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches/NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry courses.

AFCAT Notification 2026

AFCAT notification is released to select male and female candidates as commissioned officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Candidates are granted Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches through AFCAT exam. The selection process comprises an online test and AFSB interview.

Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria are required to fill the AFCAT application form. The application fee can be paid online. The application fee is INR 250 for all categories. The steps to fill the application form are given below:

  • Visit the official website
  • Click the ‘Apply Now’ link on the home page
  • Register for the exam by entering the basic details
  • After registration, candidates need to fill in personal information, educational qualification, course preference, contact information, upload documents, sign the declaration, and select exam city
  • Candidates need to pay the application fees

AFCAT Eligibility 2026

AFCAT eligibility highlights the age limit, educational qualification, medical standard, nationality, etc. It is important to check AFCAT Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam. Candidates applying for the Flying Branch should be between 20 and 24 years. The age limit of candidates applying to the Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical Branches) should be between 20 and 26 years. The basic educational qualification is graduation, however, this varies as per the departments and branches.

AFCAT Exam Pattern 2026

All registered candidates are required to appear for the online test AFCAT. It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). AFCAT exam pattern is such that it comprises four sections, General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is two hours. The test comprises 100 questions and carries 300 marks. The EKT exam is conducted for 45 minutes. The test carries questions from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics. The test paper carries 50 questions. The maximum marks allotted to the EKT are 150. The marking scheme of AFCAT is given below:

  • Candidates score three marks for correct answers
  • One mark is deducted for every incorrect answer
  • No marks are allotted to unattempted questions

AFCAT Syllabus 2026

The level of Numerical Ability questions is of the Class 10 standard. The questions in other subjects are of graduation level. Candidates can check below the AFCAT syllabus:

English: Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms, and Phrases.

General Awareness: History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc.

Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams).

Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

AFCAT Salary

Candidates after selection through AFCAT are offered INR 56,100 per month as stipend. After completing their training at IAF, the salary of candidates will be in the pay matrix of Commissioned Officers and it will be fixed in the first cell of Level 10. Apart from salary, the Officers are also entitled to various perks and allowances. AFCAT salary structure is given below.

AFCAT 2 2025 result was announced on September 16, 2025. The result was announced on the official website. However, we have provided the direct link to check the result on this page. Candidates qualifying the online test are called for AFSB interview.
