PSTET Syllabus 2023 is prescribed by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The PSTET syllabus is divided into two parts- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The Paper 1 questions are of secondary level and the level of questions in Paper 2 is of senior secondary level. Both the papers are conducted in offline mode. Candidates need to have knowledge of all sections such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Science and Social Studies.

Q:   Does PSTET syllabus change every year?

Generally the syllabus of the PSTET exam does not change frequently that is the main subject remain consistent. The syllabus is based on the topics covered in the primary and upper primary school curriculum. Minor changes can be observed at time including exam pattern, type of question, difficulty level, etc. but the overall syllabus remains the same. 

Q:   Who prescribes the PSTET syllabus?
A: 

The syllabus for the PSTET (Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test) Exam is prescribed by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The PSEB is responsible for conducting the PSTET Exam and determining the eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and syllabus for the same. The syllabus for the PSTET Exam is based on the topics covered in the primary and upper primary school curriculum. It includes subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Punjabi) Language 2 (English), Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Mathematics and Science, and Social Studies/Social Science. Candidates are advised to go through the PSTET syllabus thoroughly and prepare well for the exam to increase their chances of scoring well and qualifying for the teaching job in Punjab Government schools.

Q:   Is the PSTET syllabus same for Paper 1 and Paper 2?
A: 

No the Paper 1 and 2 syllabus is not same in the PSTET exam. Candidates need to appear for the paper that is relevant to their desired teaching level. The syllabus for first paper is designed to test the candidates knowledge, understanding, and pedagogical skills related to the subjects taught in the primary school curriculum and second paper based on the upper primary school curriculum.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt both papers in the PSTET exam?
A: 

No, it is not mandatory to appear for both PSTET  Paper 1 and 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either of the Paper, depending on their desired teaching level. The exam is conducted in two papers: First Paper and Second Paper.

Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach classes I to V

 Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII.

However, candidates who wish to teach classes I to VIII have to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2 depending on their teaching preferences. 

Q:   What is the marking scheme of the PSTET exam?
A: 

The marking scheme of PSTET 2024 exam is as follows :-

  • The PSTET exam consists of multiple-choice questions, where each question carries one mark.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which means that candidates do not lose marks for wrong answers.
  • The PSTET exam has a total of 150 questions, and the maximum marks that can be scored are 150.
  • To qualify the PSTET exam, candidates need to score a minimum of 60% marks, which means that they need to score at least 90 marks out of 150.

It is important to note that the PSTET exam is conducted in two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The marking scheme for both papers is the same, with each paper consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions and carrying a maximum of 150 marks. However, the content of the two papers is different, and candidates need to appear for the paper that is relevant to their desired teaching level.

Q:   What is the duration of PSTET Exam?
A: 

The duration of the PSTET Exam is 2.5 hours that is 150 minutes for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam is conducted in two shifts, with first paper conducted in the morning shift and second paper conducted in the afternoon shift. Each paper consists of 150 MCQs with each question carrying one mark.
