PSEB will release the PSTET notification online. The Exam Date will be announced by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The  notification PDF will contain the important dates related to the exam. It highlight the crucial events of the exam such as the release of the application form, release of admit card, declaration of result, etc. Candidates should know the latest dates of the exam so that they do not miss out on any event. 
 
 
Q:   When will the PSTET Application Form 2025 be released?
A: 

PSTET Application Form 2025 will be released by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on the official website, after the issue of an official notification. Candidates will be able to apply for PSTET 2025 exam by visiting the official website. The PSTET registration 2025 will be conducted in an online mode only. The PSTET online application process involves online registration, application form submission, uploading of documents and application fee payment. Candidates who want to appear for the exam need to fill out the PSTET application form. 

Q:   How many questions are asked in PSTET exam?
A: 

PSTET (PunjabTeacher Eligibility Test) exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options and a single correct answer. The total marks for both papers are 150, with each question carrying one mark. 

Q:   What is the duration of PSTET Exam?
A: 

The duration of the PSTET Exam is 2.5 hours that is 150 minutes for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam is conducted in two shifts, with first paper conducted in the morning shift and second paper conducted in the afternoon shift. Each paper consists of 150 MCQs with each question carrying one mark.

Q:   When will the PSTET 2025 notification be released?
A: 

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will release the PSTET 2025 notification on the official wesbite at pstet.pseb.ac.in. After the release of the notification, application process will also start. The notification will be released in the form of PDF and provides information on important aspects relating to the exam such as dates, application, exam pattern, syllabus etc.

Q:   In which mode the PSTET exam is conducted?
A: 

The PSTET exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. Candidates need to mark their answers on the OMR sheet. The candidates need to fill the sheet carefully as no extra OMR sheet will not be given in the exam. However, the PSTET application process is complete online process. The candidates have to fill out he application form online on the official website. Other than this the application fee have to paid online.

Q:   How many times is the PSTET exam conducted in a year?
A: 

The PSTET (Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test) exam is conducted once a year by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The exam is usually conducted in the month of May-June, and the notification for the exam is released a few months prior to the exam date. It is important to note that the PSTET exam is conducted in two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who wish to become teachers for students in the age group of 6-11 years need to appear for Paper 1, while candidates who wish to become teachers for students in the age group of 11-14 years need to appear for Paper 2. Candidates who wish to become teachers for both age groups need to appear for both papers.

PSTET Exam Events 2025

Application process: The registration form releases in an online mode. They need to apply online for the exam at pstet.pseb.ac.in. The application fee is INR 900 for the general category and INR 600 for SC/ST/PH category.

Application correction window: Candidates are allowed to make corrections in the online application form. The details that candidates can modify are the candidate's personal details, exam centre choice and others. 

Admit card: The hall ticket is made available online to download. Candidates need to carry hall ticket to the exam centre.

PSTET exam: It is held offline as a pen and paper-based test in two sessions for First and Second Paper. They need to appear for the exam to gain eligibility as Classes 1 to 8 teachers. 

Answer key: It is released by the authority after the exam process is over. Candidates will be able to send grievances also.

Result: It is declared on the basis of the final answer key.

Q:   How to get a job after qualifying for PSTET?
A: 

After qualifying the PSTET exam, the candidates are awarded with the eligibility Certificate. PSTET does not guarantee any job after the candidate qualifies the exam. Though, the candidates will become eligible for the recruitment exam after qualifying for the PSTET exam. The recruitment exam for recruiting teachers in the schools of Punjab. The candidates can apply for the different vacancies according to their eligibility. The Punjab government releases the vacancies for the teachers according to the needs of the state.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt both papers in the PSTET exam?
A: 

No, it is not mandatory to appear for both PSTET  Paper 1 and 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either of the Paper, depending on their desired teaching level. The exam is conducted in two papers: First Paper and Second Paper.

Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach classes I to V

 Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII.

However, candidates who wish to teach classes I to VIII have to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2 depending on their teaching preferences. 

Q:   How many papers does one need to give to qualify the PSTET exam?
A: 

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify PSTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for PSTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

  • Paper 1 
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
  • Paper 2
    • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd

PSTET Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates should check the eligibility criteria before submitting the application form. The candidature of the candidates will be cancelled if they fail to meet the eligibility criteria. Have a look at the eligibility conditions in terms of age limit and educational qualification below:

Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit to apply for the exam.

Educational Qualification:

Paper 1: Candidates must be Class 12 passed with at least 50 per cent marks along with a Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd)/ Diploma in Education (Special Education)/ Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEIEd)

Paper 2: BA/ BSc pass with DElEd/ BEd/ BEIEd/ BA/BSc-Ed
