DU Admissions 2022: Delhi University is all set to begin the admission process for the academic year 2022-23 in the next few months. With Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 making headlines and Delhi University announcing to adopt CUET for undergraduate admission, students are now anxious to know how the admission season at DU will proceed this year. 

The DU 2022 admissions will be conducted for around 70,000 Undergraduate seats. As per the data shared by the University, last year, 4,38,696 students had registered for UG admissions, while 1,83,815 had registered for PG courses and 30,019 candidates had sought admissions to MPhil/PhD courses through DU registration.

What’s new in DU Admissions 2022?

This year, the admission season is all set to break the age-old practice of enrolling students on the basis of the merit list or cut-off marks. In 2022 Delhi University and the affiliated colleges will offer admissions to eligible candidates based on CUET scores and 12th class marks (Best of four). While CUET 2022 score will be used only to screen and shortlist admission to UG / Undergraduate level programme offered by the varsity. The admission to all Postgraduate and PhD level courses will be through university-specific DUET – Delhi University Entrance Test 2022.

DU admission has been so far the toughest with the cut-off marks touching 100 per cent last year. With the adoption of CUET scores, now students from across the country will get equal opportunities and chances to get admission to prestigious University.

DU Admission Crtieria 2022

With DU executive council giving a nod to adopting CUET 2022, the whole admission process is set to change at the varsity from this year onwards. From the academic year 2022-23, DU eligibility criteria for students would be only CUET scores for admissions to the varsity.  As per DU Admission guidelines 2022, there will be no cut-offs for admission to the varsity beginning in the academic year 2022-23.

As per the guidelines, in a case the subject studied in Class 12 does not figure in CUET, the candidate will have to appear in a subject that is similar or closely related to it. "Merit will be calculated based on a combination of subjects in which a candidate has appeared in CUET as mentioned in the programme-specific eligibility," the guidelines stated.

CUET Application Process 2022

The Central University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 application process will commence on April 2. The last date of application is April 30. The National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body has notified the application dates and exam pattern of CUET 2022. The exam dates are yet to be announced. CUET UG 2022 will be conducted in a computer-based mode (CBT) which will carry multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

DU Admission Process 2022

Candidates seeking admission to Delhi University on the basis of CUET can follow the steps mentioned below:

  • DU admission form 2022: Delhi University Admission forms are expected to be made available to the candidates from July onwards. Candidates will have to fill DU application form 2022 online by visiting the official website of the varsity. Candidates have to pay DU application fee 2022 in online mode through credit card/ debit card/ net banking. The application/registration fee for the DU Admissions is different for different categories as well as for merit-based and entrance-based courses and has to be paid accordingly at the time of application.
  • DU CUET score: Once DU registration process is over and CUET results are announced, Delhi University will begin the admission for different UG courses on the basis of the CUET score.
  • Document verification: Candidates meeting the required CUET score need to participate in the document verification process conducted at different colleges of Delhi University. For the same, candidates need to visit their preferred college with a printout of the application form, all educational documents and certificates (original and photocopy), and three recent passport size photographs. Once the document verification process is completed, candidates will be given admission in their respective courses.
  • DU admission fee: After completing the document verification process, candidates are required to log in to the DU admission portal using their registered accounts and pay the prescribed course fee to secure a seat.  
  • Change of college/ course: In case, candidates wish to withdraw their admission, they are advised to first ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria and any other requirements (if any) for the course/ college. If sure, they can cancel their admission on the admission portal and visit the preferred college with the new application form and complete the document verification process (explained in the step above).

The total tuition fee of BSc programme at Shyam Lal College ranges from INR 540 to INR 720. Students have to pay the fees semesterly/yearly. The total fee is inclusive of some more components like exam fee, security deposits, etc.
