Lovely Professional University

Everybody at some point of time faces a situation (or at least I did) where they feel the need to stop studying and start doing things they like – well, in my case it came early when I completed my matric. Yes! I was a kid with dreams but all those memes on internet regarding Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg being the college drop-outs eventually made me Anti-Academics. But then CBSE came with a spell “Mass Communication” as a stream in my school. I opted for Humanities, but soon lost interest in the stream due to Economics. I shifted my stream to Mass Communication and hoped that it could be a changing point of my life. Until metric, the highest marks I had scored was 60% but eventually I developed interest in Mass Communication and completed my intermediate with 80%. Then comes the stage where a student leaves school and makes his way to college or University life.

I too was excited to join a college but was unaware about the Universities offering Degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication. I searched on Shiksha and various other sites and prepared the list of universities offering Journalism degree. Since I did not want to leave Punjab, Lovely Professional University seemed to be the best option to pursue my education.

How I cracked college admission

I gave LPU’s scholarship exam LPUNEST, scored good marks and was offered scholarship of Rs 90000 – this was the ‘wow’ moment of my life. I started my journey in LPU and even though I am an extrovert, I made a good number of friends on first day. When I was in school, I used to look for reasons to skip school, but the atmosphere at LPU is such that one feels excited to go to the college.

When I stepped in, I was amazed to see the diversity of students in this university. Students from different countries and cultures study under the same roof. Initially, I was only interested in reporting, but gradually I got to know that a Journalism degree has lot more to offer. One can be a Reporter, Anchor, PRO, Designer, Video Editor, Advertiser, Photographer, RJ just to name a few – many more fields are waiting for you.

What I gained from my college experience

The biggest strength of LPU is its infrastructure. The teaching methodology of the faculty here is very impressive. The best part is that they focus on interactive learning instead of one way communication. Students even get tutorial classes where they can discuss the problems they are facing in the courses.

I always knew I was good in singing and playing guitar but was too shy to perform it on stage. My teachers and friends motivated me to participate in LPU’s mega event “YouthVibe”. I went back home and decided to go for auditions. I got selected in the auditions but did not do well in next round. Though I was a little sad about it, but the fact that I could let go my stage fear made me feel better.

My journey in LPU has been rewarding. I have very good memories of the place which I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Yeah, so based on your scores, it looks like you may be eligible for B.Arch admission at LPU, which is good. For B.Arch the main thing is that you pass 10+2 with the required marks, and also qualify either NATA or JEE Main Paper 2, exactly like the Council of Architecture norms say. Since you got 84
