Mystory@Sujata Singh

I never had the mainstream thinking of running behind professions like engineers and doctors, and thankfully was supported by my parents who gave me the freedom of doing whatever I wanted to do. I found Humanities as my cup of tea. I studied Geography, Psychology and Economics as my core subjects as I had an interest in them and I believed that these subjects will help me in getting a better understanding of the world. Psychology helped me understand the human mind. I also got to know how a mentally unstable person faces and affects the society. I could understand better about the existence of life on this earth etc. Economics helped me in deeper understanding of the economy, its issues and various other aspects that are good or bad for the economy.

The decision of choosing BJMC as my Undergraduate degree was due to my utmost interest in advertising and film industry, and I thought why don’t pursue a degree of my interest so that I can do full justice to the subjects that I would be studying.

How I cracked college admission

Transition from school to college is a big step. I had a lot of things in my mind. I gave entrance exams for a couple of colleges, and the idea of leaving home to study in another city was fine for me, but my parents especially my mother wanted me stay in my hometown only.

I felt that no matter how much exposure you get, it is you who has the capability to perform the best even in limited resources.

On one hand I felt that I should go out to explore good opportunities while on the other hand I felt that no matter how much exposure you get, it is you who has the capability to perform the best even in limited resources, so I finally decided that Manipal University is the perfect place for me. Here, in Manipal there was no entrance test, and I got 25% scholarship on the basis of my class 12 result.

What I gained from my college experience

Spending time in college is a very easy task for me. The two and half years in college has led to mastery in passing time. The college is very beautiful, and you can chill in cafes, restaurants, and read at a specially designed library. One can even capture the memories by clicking selfies at the picture perfect places in the campus. But it is rarely that we get a lot of free time. Most of the time we are busy in attending lectures, or practical classes. After classes we go to the campus to shoot videos or click pictures or at times record ambient sounds to support our projects.

It is always fun attending practical classes as one gets to learn a lot.

Even on Saturdays and Sundays we enjoy working on assignments such as making short films, documentaries, advertisements etc. It is always fun attending the practical classes as one gets to learn a lot. We get to work on new cameras and mics, learn about their functioning and uses, and all this is actually fun. I like debates, essay writing competitions, extempore, and I regularly take part in these activities. I like anchoring for events conducted in college. I have taken part in many fests such as Auto-show, college’s annual fest, media fest and much more. I was the executive committee member in the college’s media fest and a member of the board committee who initiated this fest.

If given a chance, I would like to open a social welfare club in MUJ for the needy and underprivileged people where I can involve as many people as possible and help the needy in any form. I hope that I am able to do it.

College has made me a more confident and enthusiastic person who enjoys every activity. It has improved me as an individual; I have become a better leader and team worker. The group assignments bound us as a family who work together and then wait for the fruitful results. It leads to cohesion and unity among the classmates. My college is a really amazing part of my life which I’ll always cherish. I have made many new relations here, have found great friends and extremely supportive faculty members.
