New programme

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and Human Resources consulting firm, Aon Hewitt have tied up for a brand new programme. The programme, Next Generation CHROs is designed to identify talent and train them as HR leaders who drive business outcomes.

The programme has be jointly created by Aon and IIMB and is all set to be launched in June, 2017.

"Managing change, a survey found, will be the biggest ask of a CEO from a CHRO (chief HR officer). When we asked CHROs on the gaps they felt in their capability when they first took on the position, business knowledge emerged as the top most focus area. The next-generation CHRO programme endeavours to expand the talent pool of CHROs in India by addressing such critical capability gaps," said Sandeep Chaudhary, CEO of Aon Hewitt India Consulting was quoted as saying by a leading daily.

The programme will have three modules with a 10-day on campus training at IIMB campus. The participant will be taught by IIM faculty and work with senior Aon practitioners.

"We have partnered with Aon for the design and development of the curriculum, besides being involved with the delivery and marketing as well," said professor Madan Mohan Raj Athimoolam, chief programme officer-executive education programmes, IIMB.

The programme aims to focus on various business aspects like, enhancing the understanding of business value chain to identify linkage to people initiatives, designing and execution of business-aligned human capital strategy, reconfiguring HR operating models vis-a-vis dynamic business demands and acquisitions by leveraging data and technology and transformation journey of an HR organisation.

"There is a general perception that the CHRO is not finding a voice on the board and not bringing enough business perspective to the table. There is an evolving need to understand the business to make an impact at the senior level," said Athimoolam.

Recently, IIMB partenered with NASSCOM to launch the NASSCOM Leadership Academy and the Leadership Resource Center, which aims to enhance skills and create industry-ready talent for the IT sector in India.
