The institute will release MBA waitlist in phases depending on the movement of seats with consequent merit list. Seats at IIM Shillong are not filled generally after the first merit list, so subsequent lists are released offering admission to candidates.
The IIM Shillong waitlist movement, however is usually stable as it is one of the top tier IIM and candidates do not let go off the seat. In 2026 too, the waitlist movement will not see too much volatility.

IIM Shillong Waitlist Movement: How are Seats Alloted?
Candidates kept in the waitlist are offered vacant seats basis their category and Composite score in the final selection process. The Composite score calculation includes candidate’s CAT score, WAT-PI, Academics, Work Experience and Diversity. While for General category, the waitlist movement is stringent, for SC/ST/PwD it is a bit relaxed.
IIM Shillong Waitlist movement 2026 will happen basis the number of seats remaining vacant after merit lists release. Until every seat has been accepted, the waitlist will keep moving. The institute has about 383 seats in its flagship MBA/PGP programme. The waitlist movement applies to this number.

- Total number of applicants waitlisted: If the number is high, the waitlist will move at slower pace and if the number is low, it will move fast.
- Admission acceptance rate: If the seats at IIM Shillong are filled in the first list only, there will be no subsequent merit list or wait list.

If you don't meet the minimum academic criteria for MBA, you will not be selected for the WAT-PI round of any B-School. Meeting the minimum criteria of at least 50% marks in graduation (45% for reserved category candidates), is mandatory for admission.

The minimum academic score required for IIM admission through CAT is 50 percent in Graduation. For SC/ST/PwD categories, the minimum score requirement in 45 percent.

After any objection against CAT answer key is accepted, the provisional answer key is rectified and released at final answer key. Candidates who have attempted that particular questions will be given marks for it.

The provisional CAT answer key will not be available for download after result, the final answer key will be available. The provisional answer key can be downloaded within the objection window duration only.

CAT answer key challenge fee was earlier INR 1200 per question. It was increased to INR 1500 in 2025. The fee amount will be refunded to only those candidates whose objections have been found to be valid.

SRM University Sonepat considers CAT scores for admission in MBA. Aspirants with MAT, XAT, NMAT or any other Management entrance exam score can also get admission. Candidates can also appear for SRMHCAT conducted by the university.
