MIT-WPU Director Interview: 7 types of scholarship available, no plans on fee hike
In an exclusive interview with Shiskha.com, MIT-WPU, Pune director Dr P Srinivas Subbarao talks about the b-school’s academic strategy, placement plans, admission criteria, upcoming collaborations and more.
Established in 2017, Maharashtra Institute of Technology World Peace University (MIT WPU) is a state-private university. Counted among the top institutions in India, the University is recognised by the UGC and is know for its engineering and management courses. In an exclusive interview with Shiskha.com, MIT-WPU, Pune director Dr P Srinivas Subbarao talks about the b-school’s academic strategy, placement plans, admission criteria, upcoming collaborations and more. Q: MIT World Peace University is conducting an exclusive WPU Management Aptitude Test for MBA aspirants. The introduction of this entrance exam is because of the pandemic or is it going to be permanent admission criteria from now onwards?
A: Yes. This entrance test is conducted only because of the pandemic. If the pandemic situation persists, we might conduct entrance examinations again next year.
Q: MIT-WPU recently offered scholarships to motivate meritorious students in higher education. Can you please share some details on eligibility criteria and more?
A: There are 7 types of scholarships available for eligible students. Details are accessible on our websites. www.mitwpu.edu.in
Q: Are you planning to offer an online MBA? What will be the intake, admission process and fee structure?
A: No. We are not offering an online MBA program for regular students. However, we have the 15 month Executive MBA program which is run in hybrid mode of learning.
Q: How did MIT Pune help MBA students during pandemics? Was there a fee cut as classes are happening online?
A: We have collaborated with international faculty members from reputed universities worldwide to deliver more academic insights. In addition to these sessions, we have also designed and conducted rigorous industry readiness program to groom the students from corporate point of view.
Q: How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact MIT Pune’s academic and placement strategy?
A: As a matter of fact, the pandemic has given us an opportunity to build on our robust academic and placements strategies. We have conducted classes, workshops, corporate meets and grooming online sessions to equip our students to become corporate ready. In spite of the pandemic and economic slowdown, our university, by 14th August 2021, could achieve a 74% target of placement with an average package of 6.5 Lakhs and the highest package of 13 lakhs P.A. We are expecting 90% of our placement by September 2021.
Q: What is MIT Pune’s strategy for education in Post-COVID era?
A: The University will offer well-established best practices of hybrid or blended teaching and learning.
Q: What are the new courses and programme’s that MIT Pune is planning to offer in the near future?
A: We recently introduced MBA in Business Analytics and Executive MBA programme for working professionals (In the academic year 2021-22)
Q: Will there be any increase in the number of seat intakes?
A: No. Keeping in view the demand for some specialised programs, seat strength will be decided next academic year.
Q: Will MIT Pune aspirants face any fee hike in the upcoming admission session?
A: No. University has no plan to increase the fees in the current academic year.

Yes, MIT WPU accepts MAH CET for MBA admissions The university selects eligible candidates only based on scores in the entrance exams. Apart from this exam, candidates can also apply via valid scores of CAT/ XAT/ NMAT/ GMAT/ PERA CET or MAT.

MIT WPU admissions are based on merit and entrance. Candidates needs to secure a minimum aggregate of 50% to 60% in Class 12. Candidates with 85% can also achieve admission.
