I chose MBA as it offered practical exposure and improved analytical & managerial skills, says Bhanu Valecha

I learned the importance of passion, dedication, confidence and time management in my Class 12. This has helped me a lot in my life.

There are multiple reasons why I chose to pursue MBA programme among all the postgraduate courses after my graduation. My in-depth research on the Internet helped me understand that the curriculum design of an MBA programme is based on more practical exposure in the form of industrial visits, live projects, case-based study, etc. It also improves one’s thinking, analytical and managerial skills. All these reasons made me decide to pursue MBA as it’s a step forward to achieve my goals. Now the challenge was to look for a reputed MBA college that imparts quality education and my search zeroed at IMS Unison University. Having the benefit of dual specialisation, I chose the combination of Finance and Marketing. The University has a great global alumni network that helps the students to understand the latest industry trends and practices along with the expectations that Industry has from the graduates. Apart from this, the University regularly invites prominent industry dignitaries to facilitate the guest lectures. They share their journey, experience and the challenges faced that motivate us to think practical at the time of unforeseen situations. Apart from this, we have student-driven cultural and social events, seminars, workshops and corporate discussions to enhance leadership skills and team management skills amongst all the students.

To get through with the admission process was not that difficult. I was undergoing coaching classes to prepare for CAT and MAT exams and I was able to secure 86 percentile in MAT. This helped me clear the University’s entrance exam easily. The exam was then followed by a face-to-face interview round with two faculty members of the University. All this while, the online portal Shiksha.com helped me understand the university’s detailed admission process with the eligibility criteria and most importantly the past placements trends and students review proved to be a bigger reason to choose this University.

IMS follows a trimester curriculum system. After the lectures, I like to spend free time in the library or playing games. Out of all the subjects, I like Security & Portfolio Management and Product & Brand Management. I have also been an active participant in various college-level social and cultural events

In parallel, I am also working with the Training and Development cell of the University under the guidance of Dr Swati Bisht, Dean of placement and career services at IMS Unison University. If given a chance, I would wish to be the Head STPO for the MBA in Training & Placement Department in our IMS Unison University.

The two years of post-graduation has transformed me into a better person. I feel more confident and capable to take up new opportunities coming my way. I am sure I will be able to make up to my dream job in an organisation of repute.
