I decided to go with UPES because of its past placement records and the learning environment, says Mansi

Like my peer group, I was also confused about my choice of course for postgraduation. I also had doubts about where I should apply and what the career opportunities would be after the degree.

In the last year of graduation, the pressure about further studies started weighing heavy on my mind. So I did a lot of research about the best courses and colleges in the country. Finally, I made up my mind to pursue MBA in Finance. After advice from parents and friends, I shortlisted a few colleges that could fulfill my requirements.

I zeroed in on University of Petroleum and Energy Studies [UPES] because it’s the best university in the northern region for MBA, apart from IIMs of course. The placement percentage at UPES was also good. My seniors who passed out from UPES received lucrative packages from recruiters. One of my siblings who graduated from UPES also seconded my decision. So, here I am, pursuing MBA from UPES.

For admission in UPES, one has to appear for the entrance test UPESMET, or he/she must have a good score in CAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT or any other nationally accepted management entrance examination.

I appeared for CAT and CMAT for MBA, but my score was not that good. Soon after that lockdown was declared because of Covid and once I was back home, I started preparing for UPESMET as I had chosen UPES for MBA.

I never took any coaching classes for preparation. It was all self-study and I gave it my all.

I decided to go with UPES because of its past placement records and the learning environment that it offers. The faculty is really experienced and supportive in all aspects.

The university provides varied opportunities for students and always focuses on the overall development of an individual. For sure, it’s a very good college in all aspects to pursuing MBA or any other course in the northern region.

Ironically, ever since I took admission, I never got a chance to go to the college due to the Covid-19 situation, but even during online learning, I got a chance to make new friends. I like spending time with them on video calls. I thoroughly liked attending classes for Investment Analysis, Portfolio Management, Financial Management, Critical Thinking, Learning and Leadership.

I’m part of the Sports Club of UPES. Whenever I get a chance to visit the campus, I hope to get some action around that.

If given a chance, I would like to be a part of the Student Council and Sanskriti Club because it offers opportunities for making new contacts and enhancing our networking skills, soft skills and leadership qualities.

In my personal experience, I’ve experienced a lot of positive change in myself. At UPES, I got to learn several new things, got to know many people who are experienced in their fields and yet they are learning here with full zeal and enthusiasm, trying to give their best in every possible way. The professors always try their best to make us learn new things, to cope with the challenges. The university offers you a chance to be a thorough professional and impacts your thought process in so many progressive ways. With the kind of life we are leading in this pandemic, this is perhaps the best time to enhance our personal skills and technical knowledge. This place has transformed me into a better individual and I look forward to achieving more in my life.

If Digital Marketing is your sole purpose of pursuit, then I would definitely suggest looking into a short-term course (preferably 6–8 months) which focuses on Digital Marketing in every sense.

Depending on your level of knowledge on the subject, I would suggest learning from scratch is most ideal. H
