As mentioned above, admission to MBBS courses in India is on the basis of marks obtained in NEET. Admission process for all the colleges is either through all India counselling or state quota counselling. Candidates must note that studying MBBS in India is not expensive if they get admission in a government seat. Even if such seats are allotted in a private medical college in India, their fees is subsided and the average fees in this case is not more than Rs 1 lakh per annum.

However, studying on a self-financing or management seat is considered expensive in India.  Nearly 80 percent of the medical colleges in India charge an annual fee of Rs 3 lakh or above for this course.
