Saveetha University Concludes 29th Founders Day Successfully

The 29th Founders Day’s at Saveetha University was celebrated on November 18, 2016. Saveetha Dental College was the first institution started by the university in 1988 by Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan. Mr.K.Chellamuthu, Leader, Tamilar Vivasaigal Sangam was the Chief guest for the occasion.
In a span of 29 years, Saveetha University has grown tremendously and has gained reputation globally for providing world class education in the field of Medicine, Dentistry, Heal Allied Sciences, Engineering, Law and Management.
Some of the highlights of the event included the felicitation and prize distribution for rank holders and meritorious students for their excellent performance at the University level. Cash prize worth Rs.91 lakhs was distributed amongst the rank holders and Rs 24 lakhs was awarded to meritorious students for publications in various reputed national and international journals.
Susequently, five life time achievement awards were awarded to eminent people who made a significant contribution in their respective fields. The awardees were:
- Prof.M.F.Baig, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
- Thiru B.Kumar, Senior Advocate, Madras High Court
- Mr.M.Ponnuswami, MD, Pon Pure chemicals Ltd
- Dr.C.S.Vijay Shankar, Senior Cardio thoracic and aortic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals
- Dr.S.Gomathinayagam, Director General, National Institute of Wind Energy, Chennai
Along with these awards a Young Achiever’s award was awarded to Master Sanjan Lenin, for his winning performance in Spell Bee International Competition and International Olympiad Competition.
Speaking at the event, Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan in his speech said that the University has allotted huge funds for research purposes. He encouraged and motivated the students to concentrate more on research and development for the betterment of the Nation and promised that the university is ready to support them in all their endeavours.
