MICAT Exam 2026: Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad, has released MICAT exam 2026 details on the official website, mica.ac.in. The phase 1 of MICAT exam 2026 is scheduled to be held on December 6, 2025. MICA will conduct second phase of MICAT exam on February 13. MICAT registration window is now open for first phase exam. Last date to apply for MICAT 1 is set as November 20. MICA has released the MICAT exam dates for both phases.

What is MICAT Exam?

MICAT exam, commonly known from MICAT fullform MICA Admission Test, is an online entrance exam conducted for MICA's PGP courses, including PGDM and PGDM-C. MICAT exam is a compilation of objective and subjective questions across different sections. The exam compiles three sections, namely:

Q:   Can students take the MICAT exam if their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores are lower?

Yes, applicants may still take the MICAT even if they fared poorly on the CAT, XAT, or GMAT admission exam. In order to be eligible for the course and to take the MICAT, candidates must undertake any of the offered entrance exams and turn in their results at the time of application, according to the PGP course selection process. The primary admission exam used to choose the best applicants is the MICAT, an institute-level exam. To be included on the shortlist for the final selection stages, candidates must receive the highest MICAT scores. There are two stages of MICAT: MICAT-I and MICAT-II. Candidates are free to show up for any of the online tests at their convenience.

Q:   Is there a separate syllabus for MICAT I and II?

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, conducts MICAT exam in two phases every year. Candidates can appear for either of the exam phase or both the exam phases. MICA will assess the performance of all the test takers based on the best of two scores. The syllabus for MICAT I and II is same. Q:   Can I get into MICA with 70 percentile?
A: 

MICA admissions are through a layered filtering process comprising of CAT/ XAT /GMAT performance followed by the performance in MICAT written exam and finally the GE and PI performance. The step 1 of MICA admissions is Psychometric test. This section is a qualifier. followed by the Step 2, which is for the candidates who qualify through Psychometric test, their relative performance on CAT /XAT/ GMAT is considered.

A minimum cutoff of the best of the three scores is considered of CAT /XAT total percentile or GMAT score. The next step is the MICAT exam followed by the GE and PI. However, CAT/ XAT/ GMAT percentile/ scores make up only the 20 per cent of the total weightage of the final composite score. 

Q:   What is the duration of MICAT exam?
A: 

The duration of the MICAT exam may change from year to year. MICA, Ahmedabad, does not specify all the details of the MICAT exam pattern. However, based on the previous year's trends MICAT exam will have to be completed within a time frame of 135 minutes. These 135 minutes are divided across three sections, that is Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test, and Aptitude Test. Additionally, candidates need to take the section in the prescribed order only. However, the choice of navigation is provided within the Section-C whiel answering questions in the sub-sections.

A: 

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad releases the MICAT application form in an online mode. Candidates who wish to apply for the MICAT exam need to apply for the exam online. No other mode is available for the MICAT registration. MICA will not entertain any requests for offline submission of the application form. After submitting the online application form, candidates must take a print out of the MICAT form to retain the same for future references. However, this print-out must not be sent to the official authority. The copy of the filled in form can be used for reference to find any discrepancies in the admit card or MICAT scorecard.

Q:   Do I need to answer all questions in MICAT's Psychometric Test to qualify for the subsequent exam sections?

MICAT Psychometric exam has a total of 150 questions. Candidates may or may not answer all the questions. Psychometric Test is a qualifier exam. Candidates who do not answer all questions in the Psychometric Test may not get the section evaluated. Performance in the Psychometric test is not included while merit preparation for final selection. However, candidates who do not pass the Psychometric test are not considered for evaluation in the subsequent section of the MICAT exam. MICA will evaluate the candidate's readiness for the programme based on his/her responses in the Psychometric Test. Therefore, passing the Psychometric Test is crucial to get admission based on MICAT. One must answer all the questions in the test.

Q:   How many questions are there in Section C of MICAT exam?

Section C, or Aptitude Test of MICAT exam is divided into four sub-sections. The number of questions may change with each examination cycle. Based on the previous year's exam analaysis, there were a total of 70 questions in the Aptitude Test of MICAT exam. These 70 questions were divided into four sub sections in the following weight:

The Aptitude Test section of the MICAT exam had negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect response.

The number of answer options in the objective type questions of MICAT is not static. Each year, the number of answer options may change as per the exam structure. No, MICAT exam is conducted on a predefined date by the Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad. Candidates do not get the facility to choose an exam date. However, candidates may choose to appear for any one of the exam phases for MICAT depending upon the MICAT schedule.

MICAT-1 and MICAT-2 will be conducted in the first week of December and the second week of february respectively. Candidates aspiring for second phase MICAT exam have to fill the registration form for the same.

MICAT admit card acts as the entry ticket on the exam day. Candidatres without a hard copy of MICAT hall ticket are not allowed inside the exam centre. Additionally, candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof on the exam date. Officials at the exam centre verifies the details on the MICAT admit card and photo ID proof to be sure of the candidate's identity. However, in case the details on the admit card and hall ticket does not match, officials at the exam centre do not allow the entry.

Candidates must cross check all the details from the photo ID proof and admit card and before they carry the same to the exam centre.

MICA releases the MICAT result 2026 for both phases in an online mode on the official website, mica.ac.in. Test takers are allowed to check their scores by using their login credentials generated at the time of registration. Post the result, selected candidates will be invited for GE/PI at various MICA campuses.

MICA Selection Process 2026

Admission to MICA Ahmedabad involves MICAT or MICA Admissions Test, which is conducted twice a year. It is not mandatory to appear for both tests. The best of the two scores will be considered for candidates who would take both MICAT I and MICAT II. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the final selection rounds involving GE and PI.

Step-I: Candidates have to take CAT/ XAT/GMAT exam.

Step-III: GE & PI- Candidates who qualify CAT/XAT/GMAT and MICAT I & II shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI).

GE & PI Shortlist Criteria

  • Section A of MICAT, i.e. Psychometric Test is a qualifier.
  • Those who qualify in the Psychometric, their relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered basis of minimum cut off.
  • Those who qualify Section A based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their performance in Section B of MICAT will be assessed.
  • Thereafter, candidates who qualify for Section B, their performance in Section C will be assessed.
  • Those who clear sections A, B and C will be called for GE/PI at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai

Q:   What after release of MICAT results?
A: 

After the release of MICAT scores, MICA releases MICAT GE-PI shortlist. Candidates who are shortlisted for GE-PI have to book slots for the selection rounds. Candidates have to appear for Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interaction (PI). The final selection is based on performance in several parameters including MICAT score, performance in GE and PI, etc.  MICAT GE and PI is conducted in five cities across India, namely Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Q:   How is MICA cutoff determined?
A: 

MICA cutoff is prepared on the basis of multiple factors. MICA Merit List Preparation is a four step process as stated below:

Step 1: Psychometric test) is the first step which is a qualifier.

Step 2: Those who qualify through Psychometric test , their relative performance of CAT/ XAT/ GMAT entrance exam is considered. A minimum cutoff of the best of three scores of any of CAT /XAT total percentile/ GMAT score will considered. 

Step 3: Those who qualify based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their MICAT scores will be assessed.

Step 4: Candidates who appear in GE and PI must be recommended by majority of the panellists of PI to be considered for the final merit list

Q:   Which score from MICAT I and MICAT II will be considered for the merit list preparation?
A: 

MICA conducts MICAT in two phases. The candidates who appear for both the phases will get 2 separate result. However, MICA considers best of two scores to shortlist candidates for GE-PI. On the MICAT scorecard, candidates will be able to check their names, sectional and overall scores. Approximately, 1/10th of the total number of candidates who appear in both the exams will be shortlisted for GE/PI based on the Total MICAT 2023 scaled score.

Q:   From where can I get MICAT's past year papers?
A: 

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, does not release MICAT question papers. Therefore, candidates may not find the MICAT previous year's question papers online. However, candidates can find the sample questions for the MICAT exam. MICA releases three MICAT sample papers every year along with the exam details. These sample papers host the questions from Descriptive Test and the Aptitude Test. MICA does not share the questions that are or can be asked in the Psychometric Test. The questions in the MICAT sample papers are to provide an idea to the applicants on what to expect from the MICAT examination.

Q:   What is the mode of MICAT exam?
A: 

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad conducts the MICAT exam as a computer based test from centres. Candidates need to appear at the allotted test centre to take the computer based MICAT exam. At the MICAT exam centre, each candidate is allotted a computer system. Candidates have to log in with the credentials to take the exam. Once the candidate logs in to the computer system, the responses will be recorded against a test taker ID. Further, this test taker ID will be helpful in evaluating MICAT scores.

MICAT is among the difficult exams conducted for admission to MBA courses. Candidates appearing for MICAT exam get themselvbes involved in the MICA PGP admission process. The selection process by MICA involves the candidates to take CAT/XAT/GMAT exam. Additionally, candidates need to appear for the MICAT exam. MICAT involves three sections, as mentioned below:
