NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar ranks 56 under the 'Overall' category, 47 under the 'Research Institutions' category, and 32 under the 'Engineering' category.
The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Advanced 2026 application form is expected to be released in April 2026, and the examination will be conducted on May 17, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 admit cards for IIT Ropar admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses are now available for download on the official website for students scheduled to appear from Jan 21 to Jan 24, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 admit cards can now be downloaded from the official portal for admission to the MSc course. Further, the IIT JAM exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on Feb 15, 2026.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar was established in 2008. For the General AI quota, the IIT Mandi CSE cutoff for 2025 ranged between 3087 and 3123. For IIT Patna, the cutoff range was between 3215 and 3377. Similarly, for IIT Ropar, the cutoff ranged from 2357 to 2512. Therefore, considering these ranges, the IIT Mandi cutoff for CSE was comparatively more competitive for admission among engineering aspirants compared to IIT Patna, while it was less competitive than IIT Ropar, which had a more stringent cutoff for CSE admission.

To get admission to IIT Ropar the candidates have to take the GATE exam and clear it. GATE is a national-level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes at IIT Ropar. The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.
