Campus life and internships at IIT Ropar

Placements: Since I am in the 3rd year of my degree, I am sharing about the internships at IIT Ropar, in my batch of 70 students, about 5 are selected for software development roles in companies like Microsoft, Arista Networks, and Razorpay. Almost 35 students got internships in mechanical core companies like TATA Steel, Trident, DRDO, etc. Two students got internships in product management roles at OLA, and one got an internship at JPMCt.

Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi facilities throughout the 500 acres of campus area and also LAN facilities in the hostel rooms. The common rooms in all the hostels provide facilities like gym, television, and sports equipment. Some hostels also have a snooker table in the common area. The library is big and contains books on almost every subject, from novels to course books and research papers. Food available in the canteen is better than what is available at the mess; however, after visiting 3 other IITs, I can assure that our mess food is much better.

Faculty: The faculty at IIT Ropar is highly qualified, and most of them have pursued their PhDs from abroad. 75% attendance is mandatory in almost every course, and the teachers are mostly good except for a few exceptions. There are regular class committee meetings where students can give their feedback to all the professors throughout the duration of the course. The course curriculum is relevant and is regularly updated, which really helped me during my internship drive. The semester exams are not very tough but also not very easy; passing them is really easy with around 30% marks.

Our college provides good education.

Placements: Placements are decent. Our college offers core and non-core jobs. Internships are a bit difficult to get in the core field. Our college has a placement cell. It helps students to get placements and internships.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is very well-designed. Our college provides all the required elements in any subject. All hostels are new. They are very good in condition. The hostel provides double seater rooms for 1st and 2nd-year students and one seater room for 3rd-year students.

Faculty: Our college is famous for its faculty members. They are great. Our professors are more oriented toward students rather than their research. They are friendly and helpful. Our college makes it easy for us to communicate with our professors.

Other: Our college provides great exposure.

Our college has good value for money.

Placements: Around 80% of students got placed in our college. The highest salary package depends on students. The average salary package offered in our course is 15 LPA. Top roles offered are PM, PA SDE, analyst, etc. It is difficult to get internships because IT companies don't hire interns from the mechanical branch. Our college provides good placements.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is decent. The library is filled with books. Classrooms and the library are air-conditioned. Labs are very good for research. Hostels are well-built. The hostel rooms are very spacious. Our college provides double seater rooms till the second year. The infrastructure of our college is good.

Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are good. The course is the same as IITs. Semester exams are quite difficult. The course structure covers all concepts of the theory. The pass percentage is good. If you study well, you can get a pass percentage.

Other: The crowd is good.

As IIT ropar is stabilised in 2008 is not as much good as old IITs.

Placements: Last year more than 85% students were placed from mechanical engineering. Agravage package is 7 lack. Tata motors, airtel, Amazon, Google, GS and many other top companies come for placement and internships. Basically tha the highest package is offered to CSE people which is 20-30 lac.

Infrastructure: As we all know IIT ropar is an IIT which is stabilised in 2008 with other 8 IITs, so the infrastructure is better than old IITs. Hostel and department have the facilities of Wi-Fi. Mess and departments are air conditioner. Library is also very good and use full.

Faculty: Professors are highly educated. They have great knowledge in their fields. There teaching skills are also very good. They are very dedicated towards their work. They are also very good in research. Their main goal is that students of Indian Institute of Technology Ropar get more and more knowledge as much as possible.

Other: There are three fests of IIT knowledge, zeitgeist, advitiya and aarohan.

The placement cell is quite active and many seminars are scheduled periodically.

Placements: The Placement is almost same in all IITs. The placement cell is quite active and many seminars are scheduled periodically. The average and the highest package have increased if we compare to the previous records. The placement was around 90% for the senior batch. The average salary package offered for 2020 batch is around 11 Lacs. Both Core and Non-core companies come here.

Infrastructure: IIT Ropar is a newly built campus. There is every facility available. It is better than all the other new IITs. The campus was established in the year 2008 and it spread across 508 acres. All the hostels are well maintained. All type of sports equipment is available for students. Library and classroom both are fully furnished.

Faculty: Facilities are well qualified. They are really supportive and always ready to help. The behaviour of the faculty in classes is also very good. Most of the faculty have 10+ years of experience. They are highly qualified and some of them have done post-doctorates. The total number of the faculty member is around 120.

The college has very good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: The highest salary package offered is 42 LPA by Microsoft, and the average salary package offered is 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is not known, but 5 LPA is the limit. More than 90% of the students were placed for the 2020 passing out batch. Top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, L&T, Amazon, Facebook, Oyo, Flipkart, Futures First, etc.

Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi in all the buildings including mess, student activity centre, lecture hall complex, department buildings and hostels. Food vendors are managed by the student committee, which is always open to feedback, and hence the food quality can be improved.

Faculty: Faculty members here are one of the most knowledgeable in India. All of them have PhD degrees in their respective fields. They are highly qualified as some of them have done post-doctorates as well. The course curriculum was changed, which is effective from the 2017 batch, and it focuses highly on societal problem-solving.

Our college is the best in North India.

Placements: About 80% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered ranges between 19-20 LPA to the CSE student. Maruti Suzuki always visits our college for placements. L&T visit fro college to provide an internship, and few students also went to finance sector like Bank. A top role offered to the students is an android developer.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good. When you enter college, you will see the academic block. Our college provides high-speed internet facility on the Campus, and it is linked with our institute email ID. Quality of food served is very good, and the mess serves very balancing diet food.

Faculty: Most of the teacher in our college are post-doctorate, and they are from different specialisation in their field. The bridge between the student and the professor is very tight. Quality of professors is the best. The course curriculum is very easy and can be understood by anyone. The course curriculum is based on industry 4.0.

Other: Events named Zeitgeist, Advitya, Aarohan and Desh are organised at our college.

Review of IIT Ropar - Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar (IIT-RPR).

Placements: Placement is like other IITs. When students come in the first year, they dream of getting a good salary package job in the company. But when they come to fourth-year, some of them go to higher education, IAS, etc. Placement scenario also changes from time to time. So if I provide you with the data of this year, it would be different from next year. If you are talented, you can get your job anywhere. The main problem is, most of us don't study properly.

Infrastructure: The permanent campus of IIT Ropar has a beautiful infrastructure. There is every facility available which old IITs have, except a swimming pool. It's better than IIT BHU, and other IITs. The best thing is that the weather is better than IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, etc. The campus is fully air-conditioned. Hostel outer walls are very thick, so sunlight does not heat the room.

Faculty: Some faculty members are very good, while others are bad in terms of teaching. It is very tough to become a faculty in IIT since they check you on various parameters. Most of the professor has a PhD in foreign colleges. But it is far better than NIT colleges. Some faculty members also provide a summer project to their students.

Other: Events and fests organised here are good.
