IGNOU BEd Entrance Exam 2026: Notification(OUT), Registration(Started), Dates, Syllabus, Results & Counselling

The IGNOU BEd Entrance Test is an all-India level entrance test conducted by Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is conducted in offline mode for admissions of eligible candidates for its Bachelor of Education (BEd) program. Every year, thousands of candidates appear for the IGNOU BEd Entrance Test. As per estimates, in 2018, a total of 18,283 candidates appeared for the teaching entrance exam. The duration of the IGNOU BEd course is two years. However, candidates are allowed to complete the course for a maximum duration of five years. The medium of instruction of the IGNOU BEd program is English and Hindi.

If you wish to apply for the IGNOU BEd entrance exam, then fulfil the listed requirements.

a) at least 50% either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in theMaster’s Degree in Sciences, SST, Commerce, or Humanities. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,

and

For ODL (Open Distance Learning)

(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.

(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE-recognised teacher training programme through face-to-face mode.

The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.

• Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules.
• A master’s Degree awarded without a first degree is not accepted for the purpose of Academic Studies in IGNOU.

Indira Gandhi National Open University releases the IGNOU BEd 2026 syllabus in the official notification. Candidates preparing for the test must review the subject-wise topics they need to study. The Syllabus is released for all four subjects - General English Comprehension, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, Educational and General Awareness, and Teaching Learning and Aptitude. The IGNOU BEd entrance test includes the basic teaching concepts alongside a general intelligence test.

IGNOU prescribes the exam pattern of its BEd entrance exam and mentions it in its official notification. As per the exam pattern, the test is a two-hour duration exam. The exam is conducted in offline mode. The question paper includes 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1 mark. Indira Gandhi National Open University released the IGNOU Entrance Exam Application Form on January 29. The link is activated for a limited timeframe. Candidates are advised to fill out and submit the form after paying INR 1000. The candidate will be required to submit the filled-in application form with self-attested copies of documents as specified in Entrance-cum-Admission Form. The original documents are to be submitted later for verification, after receiving an offer letter for admission.

• Browse to the ignou.ac.in and find the link for the BEd exam.
• Click 'Apply Online' or 'New Registration' and provide basic details to get a system-generated Application Number, username, and password.
• Log in using your credentials to fill out the application form, including personal, educational, and contact details.
• Upload your scanned photograph (under 100 KB) and signature (under 50 KB) in the specified format.
• Pay the application fee using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.
• Preview the form to check for errors, then submit it
