Eligibility for AIIMS BSc Post-Basic Nursing

The number of seats in the AIIMS Post-Basic Nursing Course is very few and most of these seats are filled by the internal candidates of AIIMS. It is very difficult for the outside candidates to get admission in this course. The eligibility criteria for B.Sc. (Post-Basic) Nursing differ from the Hons. programme, since this is a bridge course meant for already-qualified nurses:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

• Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognised institution.

• Registration with a State Nursing Council is compulsory.

• 17 years of age as on December 31 of the admission year, with no upper age limit for most categories.

• Both male and female candidates are eligible for the Post-Basic Course, unlike the Hons. course, though candidates should confirm this in the current bulletin.

• Selected candidates for Post-Basic Nursing also go through a personal interview or assessment round, in addition to the written entrance exam, before final admission is confirmed.
