AIIMS BSc Nursing 2026 Exam Pattern: The All India Institute will conduct the AIIMS BSc Nursing 2026 exam on July 4. The Institute will notify the AIIMS BSc Nursing 2026 exam pattern in the official information bulletin. The candidates should note that the All India Instituion can release the AIIMS BSc Nursing 2026 Application form with the information bulletin soon on its official website - https://www.aiimsexams.ac.in/landingpage/key-dates.

The candidates are suggested to solve the AIIMS BSc Nursing previous year question papers to understand the exam pattern fully to score better. The candidates are suggested to prepare all the topics mentioned in the official AIIMS BSc Nursing syllabus because the exam conducting body can ask any number of questions from any topics. Although there have not been any changes in the AIIMS BSc nursing 2026 paper pattern in the last five years, it is expected that the upcoming exam pattern will also remain the same. AIIMS Nursing 2026 Exam Pattern BSc (Hons.)

The  exam pattern is the foundation of the AIIMS BSc Nursing preparation strategy as it helps candidates understand the type of questions, exam duration, and the marking scheme. Q:   How many sections are there in AIIMS BSc nursing exam?

There are four sections in AIIMS BSc nursing exam named Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Knowledge. There will be 70 questions overall for which candidates will be provided 120 minutes to solve the paper. It will be an online exam carrying objective-type questions. 

Q:   Will AIIMS nursing have sectional time limit?
A: 

No, being an online exam (computer-based exam), AIIMS nursing does not carry any sectional time limit. There will be four sections in the exam, namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Knowledge in the exam. Candidates can switch between the sections to attempt the questions. It is not mandatory to complete one section before attemting another one.  

Q:   What is AIIMS BSc nursing exam marking scheme?
A: 

AIIMS nursing is an online exam which is conducted in computer-based mode. The BSc nursing entrance exam will be conducted carrying 100 wuestions of 100 marks (i.e. 1 mark for each question). Each section namely Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, will be of 30 marks each except GK section which will be of 10 marks. There will be a negative marking of -1/3 marks for choosing incorrect option. 

Q:   Who conducts AIIMS Nursing entrance exams for Nursing Courses?

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, conducts AIIMS BSc (Hons) nursing, BSc (Post-Basic) nursing, and BSc (Paramedical) entrance exams annually to grant admission to all AIIMS campuses offering nursing courses. The entrance exam is generally conducted in the month of May every year. The conducting body uses a two-stage method for registration to the BSc nursing programme. The first is through the PAAR (Prospective Applicants Advanced Registration) system, a new AIIMS method. The second is through basic registration, followed by the Generation of Code and Final Registration.

The AIIMS BSc nursing 2026 exam pattern follows a two-stage selection process. The two stages are:

  • Stage 1: Written examination
  • Stage 2: Personal Interview/Assessment

Stage 2: Personal Interview/Assessment Scheme

AIIMS will call candidates who will be able to make it to the merit list based on the written exam for the personal interview/assessment round. The second stage will have a weightage of 30 marks. The final merit list will decide the fate of the candidate based on their performance in both stages. Almost three times more candidates will be invited for the interview than the actual number of available seats. The assessment process will count the following criteria:

  • Past academic record in the Higher Secondary or class 12 or equivalent examination
  • Past academic record in the Nursing examination
  • Performance as a Staff Nurse

Q:   Are there subjective-type questions in the AIIMS Nursing exam?

No, the AIIMS Nursing 2026 question paper will have objective-type questions only. The candidates will be served with Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) out of which candidates have to choose one option. It will be a computer-based online entrance exam for which 120 minutes (2 Hours) will be allotted to solve approximately 70 questions. Overall there will be questions from: Physics (30 marks), Chemistry (30 marks), Biology (30 marks), and General knowledge (10 marks).

Q:   Do the AIIMS Nursing 2026 questions need to be answered in any specific order?
A: 

No, candidates do not need to follow the AIIMS Nursing question paper chronologically. Candidates can attempt any question or section first according to their own convenience. Overall there will be 70 questions in the paper for which 120 minutes will be allotted to the candidate.

AIIMS BSc Nursing Marking Scheme 2026

AIIMS BSc Nursing exam pattern 2026 also specifies the marking scheme, which is diligently followed to evaluate the performance of the aspirants. As per the marking scheme issued by the conducting body for both post-basic and BSc (hons) entrance exams, the following criteria remain the same: 

  • For each correct answer, +1 mark will be given for the correct answer
  • For each incorrect answer, a negative marking of (-1/3) mark will be deducted 
  • Zero marks will be given for unanswered responses

Yes, AIIMS BSc nursing entrance exam has a provision for negative marking. For each incorrect option chosen, -1/3 mark will be deducted. Candidates will be give 120 minutes to attempt the question paper. There will be overall 100 MCQ questions of 1 mark each.  

Q:   Has the AIIMS Nursing exam pattern changed?

There is no official intimation about the change in the AIIMS Nursing 2026 exam pattern yet. Until last year, there was no change in the exam pattern. AIIMS New Delhi conducts the national-level entrance exam to facilitate admission into the BSc Nursing and Post Basic BSc Nursing. The eligibility criteria and the pattern of both exams are different.

AIIMS Nursing entrance exam is generally of 'Moderate' difficulty level. AIIMS BSc (h) Nursing exam was conducted on June 1, 2025 and BSc (post basic) exam on June 21, 2025 in online mode. AIIMS Nursing exam is based on syllabus of class 12 and Class 11. difficulty level of questions ranges from easy to moderate. As per student review, mostly direct questions are provided in exam. There are 20% to 30% application based question which are time consuming and analytical in nature.
